RE-BLOG, my first quilt post.

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Solutions- OZARK MISSOURI

When I first joined the Active Rain community of peers, I quickly figured out that I was in for an enjoyable life changing experience!  I also knew that to have something to 'say' in this sea that my voice was going to have to learn the language of the participants.

I started out reading, commenting and eventually posting, starting groups, entering contests etc...  I have made friends, sent & received referrals, even changed offices from contacts in this cyber world.

I have noticed that our 'best kept secret' is now being kept by over 140,000!  There is always room for one more.  On Active Rain there is  tool called the re-blog.  Perfect for when you are having writers block or find a great article you want to share.

I have always looked at my blogs as a way to document a glimpse of what I am interested in on a particular moment in time.  I found my introduction to my quilt blog group and had to snicker at the date and time stamp.  (as a disclaimer- I don't remember where I typed this post from-  but I hope it was 'floor time' !  Wonder if I will write my next real estate article during a quilt class or retreat)

I am CRAZY about Real Estate and just as I was looking for a quilt community (www.myquiltblog.com) I thrilled to report that my writing skills are improving in both cyber-worlds.  I just need to remember, am I a REALTOR who quilts or a Quilter who buys/sells Real Estate?

I am very excited to have found a place to meet and greet others who share a passion for all

things fabric.  I am a scrap-aholic and love to see what others are doing with their stash.

Quick version is I am looking for a community that will let me be me and not judge if the

seam allowance is a little off.  I have just started reading the other posts so please give me

awhile to get to know you.  I wear a lot of hats during the day and think it will be good for me

to get to hang with my creative side every now and then.

I am living/working in SW Missouri, my quilting career is mostly in my head.  I love to sew &

teach but have done so only on an armature level.  I did get to teach a class in Mito, Japan

(only b/c we were visiting the church there and you know how church ladies are---)  I say I

have taught internationally- then I laugh.  I have produced about a dozen booklets on

projects that our local group has done.  Nothing to sell, just little brags.  I personally like to

see the story behind the group/project and get a couple of pictures.  Our church group use to

write an essay on each of the quilts we did and I would assemble the writings into a booklet.

One of these days maybe my girls will do something with them.  I have had a couple of quilts

make it to the mag. level but only as 'look at what we dids', never as the feature designer.

Quilting has been a Hobby for many years and I love to share the ideas I learn from others.  I

am looking forward to getting to explore this side of my life.  Happy Sewing-  cw

All things grow with the RAIN- I hope to share more of my creative side with my peers and readers--if you share a kindred heart when it come to reporting on events in and around that are crafty, feel free to post to my quilters group.  We would love to have you.

 be good  cw

Russ- we'll see about that, I think I am the only one who reads 'ME' (other than you of course)  Hey can I be a trend setter?  How is it going in Michigan?  cw

I am not a quilter, surprised? But, I have a place in the mountains of North Carolina and I have been seeing paintings of quilt patterns on the side of barns. I think I heard something about it honoring some of the local quilting styles. Did you ever hear of anything like that?

Love quilts!  My only experience is a rag quilt!  Extreme amount of work and patience.  My Type Triple "A" personality does not allow me to have the patience to tackle anything except the Rag or maybe it was called a string quilt.  Anyway, my husband loves it!  It is very warm.

Cheryl, your blog about quilting caught my eye since I just had a mystery quilt step 4 party last night.  I like the social part of quilting the best, even though some of my quilt partners are solitary maniacs in their sewing rooms at times.  Real Estate is very much like quilting, working to put things together with care.  Kinda go together I think.

I'm gonna join your group in just a second.  I really don't know which one it is but I belong to Quilt by Association, a local group in Billings Montana.  I've already made one cutting mistake cause I was talking while reading directions, I have enough fabric so not too worry, I may have an even larger mystery than I started with!

WANSA---I have a link to the AR Quilt/Crafters group in my post.  I say join and bring a friend.  Last year I started a group for rainers named Cheryl (talk about a small group) it sounds silly but there are several that aren't Cheryl's that post there as a fifth place to post.  I tend to get lazy and just read my 'groups' but am well rounded b/c of the different styles of content.  glad to meet you.  cw

Thank you, and I'm glad to meet you as well.  We drove, quickly, through your part of the country last June after we picked up our son from basic training at Fort Leanard Wood.  It was a bit more humid than I am used to, (not counting today).  I really haven't quilted much in the last 6 years since I started this business, and I have missed it so much.  So I started a group right here in my rural area, very fun with wine, cheese and spinach dip
