Stuck in a Rut? The Top 5 Ways to Change Up the Ambiance and Get In the Mood to Blog

The Scenario:  You sit down at your desk ready to crank out another local real estate post.  You may or may not have your topic in front of you but this is the time you have allotted to write and you are bound and determined to crank the words out and then as you begin to type.....

BLANK-----BLANK----You got nothin'.

You are stuck in a blogging rut.  You need to change up the ambiance and get in the mood to blog.

There's no blogger I know who hasn't gotten into this rut before.  Even the best laid plans fall flat sometimes...sometimes they just don't fall at all.  So how do you get the words to disperse among the blank white screen staring before you?  You've gotta find your comfort zone and get in your groove.

Wonderful Post - and I love that song! I got distracted by the video, I still can't believe the clothes (skin tight jeans), hair, etc that we all used to wear back then.  LOL

The best part of your post was the Journey video. I see them EVERY TIME they come to town ;-) Thanks for the inspirational post though - in all seriousness. Sometimes I get very blocked, and I log onto Twitter. I see what other folks are tweeting, and there's always some good discussion that breaks me loose to blog.

I like talking to myself - oh, are we talking about blogging?  What I do is open up a word document and just start typing, then I get stuck, close it and think a little.  Then go back - it's amazing when you start up again, it's like your fingers are on fire!  Congrats on the newsletter feature, good suggestions.

Love Journey BTW.

Alicia- I do hope you start...as far as prospects creating good content is key online and a blog is one of the most fantastic ways to accomplish that.

Joe- Lol well I appreciate your sharing- you certainly have a flair for the creative.

Martha- I hear you, the more clients I take on the more empathetic I come to the industry I serve.

Chris- Try using a recording device.  Many phones have them.  Than you don't have to worry about missing a thing.

Patricia- Gary has inspiration through every fiber of his being I think.

Linda- You are so right...one of the best ways to break out of blogging fears is to continue to blog.

Nan- Actually life feels like a great big blog just waiting to be written to me.  Now that I have been blogging for a couple few years, it feels like I look at the world through blogging glasses all day everyday, it really has changed my lens and my view.

Rebecca... I have seriously thought about podcasting from the car.  I have great ideas while driving and would love to capture those...  I think it would also be a riot to podcast while driving the lawnmower.  I have great ideas while mowing the lawn.

I keep a list.  When an idea hits me I right it down.  Then when I need something to write on I go back to the list.
