Downtown Lynchburg Virginia has been in the middle of a revitalization for a while. Recently though with the influx of new business and arts and entertainment in the area it has been exciting to see the plans come to fruition. I went downtown yesterday accompanied by my little sister and got caught up in the changes. It is great to see how care is taken to blend the old with the new. I've lived in the area now since 1988. When I first moved here I would not have had the opportunity to take any great pictures nor would there be much to write about. I hope you take sometime to check out what is going on downtown.

Hi Nanette - We go down to the market early Saturday morning when we are in town! Last time I was there, my sister-in-law and I spent a Saturday morning rummaging through some of the antique or 2nd hand furniture stores and especially the artisan shops and galleries. It was amazing to me to see how everything is changing downtown and especially in the river area! I was impressed! We'll have to check out the downtown area next time we are there! Obviously, good things are to come! Thanks!

Love historic areas... now more than ever! So much character and history. I should get out more and enjoy our downtown but can't keep up with my writing as it is! Last week was a wash with taxes, cleaning, etc., so I'm behind but happy. Enjoyed your video and hope all is well with you!

Very nice collection of images Nanette. Downtown areas are being cleaned and polished as more people become interested in moving back to cut down on commuting and to open new businesss in historic locations. It really looks great. BTW, in 1988 I think the only thing you would have done in the area is lock the doors and drive as fast as you could if it is like most small city areas I have visited. I welcome the change, it is exciting.
