My children are sprinkled across the county so no visits from them this year. However, I did get their calls wishing me happiness on my day.
My husband had a very special gift for me. He surprised me with tickets to a very special Victorian Tea Presentation at Paulsdale. Paulsdale is the the farmhouse home of the late women's suffrage champion Alice Paul and a national historic landmark located in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. The weather was beautiful & it was lovely to take a break from real estate. Although, I never really do - always have my cards with me & listen to others & see where I can put my 2 cents in & let others know what I do for a living. However, on this day I decided to just be a civilian for the day. It was heavenly. Sipping tea, tasting sandwiches & desserts, being waited on, light, interesting conversations, spending the day with my husband, my sister & all of the ladies at the tea.
The guest speaker was Barbara Meyer Darlin. She dressed and undressed in different underwear and outerwear in the parlor as part of a program she called "Unlacing the Victorian Woman." It was a most interesting program & everyone in the room enjoyed her sense of humor & expertise on the subject.
The real reason I am writing this post it to let you know that even though I never spoke one word about real estate that day, my name got out there in the publics eye without me even knowing it. I was reading several post on Active Rain & someone said that she tells everyone to go to Google & "Google" her name. So I went & "Googled" Cheryl Needhammer & found loads of references to me - including the one from the Courier Post on Mother's Day. It seems that I spoke with a reporter that was at the tea & she mentioned my husband, sister & I in her article that was written for the Courier Post on May 14th. If you'd like to read the article just click here http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070514/NEWS01/705140335/1006
So you see, you never know how your name is going to get out there. Take every opportunity to brand yourself & get your name in the spotlight. You never know who just might be checking you out.
