The Three Little Agents and the Big Bad Wolf

Once upon a time there were three little agents. The time came for them to leave their comfort zone and seek their fortunes. Before they started their new adventure, their mentors told them, “Whatever you do, do it the best that you can because that’s the way to get along in the world.”

The first little agent built his business around post it notes and haphazard systems because it was the easiest thing to do. The second little agent  built his business around outlook and excel. This was a little stronger than a post it notes. The third agent built his business with Top Producer and the Automated Agent.

One day the big bad wolf named “Growth” went to eat the three little agents. When Growth spied the first agent who spent each day working tirelessly to get everything done but never finishing, he knew he’d have a quick and delightful meal. “Little agent, little agent, let me in!” The response quickly came from the agent, “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.” Growth then said, “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your business in!” And so it was that the first agent was eaten up by growth because he built his business around systems that were not consistent.

The next day Growth went to the second business built on outlook, excel and other office products. When Growth spied this agent he knew it would take a little longer to gobble him up, but the systems were not capable of handling his might. He would savor his meal when he devoured it. “Little agent, little agent, let me in!” The response quickly came from the agent, “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.” Growth then said, “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your business in!” And so it was that the second agent was eaten up by growth because he built his business around systems that couldn’t be automated.

On the third day the wolf named Growth came to visit the last little agent who built his business with Top Producer. Growth could see that this agent would be more challenging then the other two, but was willing to try to eat him nonetheless. “Little agent, little agent, let me in!” The confident response was, “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.” Growth said, “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your business in!” Only this time, he was not able to blow down the business so he called his buddies, “Too Many Listings,” “Too Many Closings,” and “Too Many Clients,” so they could all try to gobble up the third little agent. This did not work either, the agent’s systems were so predictable and stable they could handle the four wolves at the door.

The sly old wolf decided he’d try one more time to get the third agent and climbed up on the roof to look for a way into the business. When the agent heard the wolf  above, he lit a roaring fire in the fireplace and placed on it a  large kettle of The Automated Agent. When Growth finally found the hole in the chimney he crawled down and KERSPLASH right into that kettle of the Automated Agent and that was the end of the troubles for the third little agent.

The next day the little agent invited his mentor over for lunch. She said, “You see it was as I told you. The way to get along in the world is to do the things as well as you can.” Fortunately for that little agent, he learned his lesson and lived happily ever after.

Nice story Travis. I'll have to try this one out on the kids sometime and see how they feel about this version.
