For those of you with a sweet tooth, you'll be happy to hear that Westport has a new kid on the block!
Saturday was Crumbs official grand opening and to mark the event, they gave away free cupcakes to the first 1,000 customers. Crumbs was established in 2003 and has several locations on the East and West Coasts. They are known for their cupcakes which are made all by hand and from scratch.
I'm not a big fan of cupcakes, but I thought I'd give it a shot. My husband and I arrived at about 10:15 and were still able to pick out a goody of our choice. I was surprised that the line wasn't longer and that the cases still looked full. They seem to have a large staff and they were constantly replenishing the cases. Now here was the hard part...we had about 50 cupcakes to choose from; with cool names like "Elvis", "Lolly Lacrumb", "Artie Lange" and "Baba Booey" to name just a few! I finally settled for the chocolate black out....yummy!!! It was chocolate, of course, with a chocolate ganache center...heaven! It was a great alternative to picking up a whole cake and feeling guilty after consuming the third slice! I loved seeing all the people that came out for the yummies...even babies were smiling!!!
Located at 40-44 Post Road (across the street from the library), Crumbs is open from 8am-8pm, Sunday through Saturday plenty of time to satisfy that craving for a tasty treat. The prices range from $2.50 to $3.75 depending on variety and size. The great thing is that they do offer cakes along with donuts, pies, brownies and danish. They also serve coffee and have tables where you can hang out and enjoy your prize with friends or just working on your laptop. Enjoy!
