What's with Advanced Access?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with The Virtual Link

Wow, what's going on with Advanced Access?  I have had more phone calls this morning than in the past month!  It seems those of you with Advanced Access template sites are seeing the light and ready to build a stand alone site.

While AA is generally a good product as far as template based sites go, this is one of the many reasons that I advise clients to use stand alone sites versus template based sites such as AA.

Everyone's buzzing about this issue and for good reason.  Most of you who have sites through Advanced Access have no access to your email now.  So you're not getting your leads and you've lost your web site and the worst thing is that you don't know how long this problem is going to last nor can you speak to anyone at the AA offices!

To add a little salt in the wound, I have heard the buzz from more than one source that Advanced Access may be closing their doors!  Ouch!  The rumor is that they have been having problems over the past few months that have really escalated over the past few weeks and effected e-mail and now downed web sites. This rumor could be totally false...but what if?  Have you prepared for a disaster such as this?  What's your next move?

If you're tired of having a web site that looks like other agent sites and you're ready for a stand alone site that's designed to rank well in the search engines, contact me to discuss building a new site.  I can discuss all the pro's and con's of template sites and stand alone sites as well design a site to match your individual personality and taste.

All web sites are custom designed and designed using the latest search engine optimization techniques.  All web sites are submitted to the search engines and come with 6 months of SEO and rankings reports.

If you're an Advanced Access client looking to make the switch - contact me now.  I'm offering 20% off design and development of a new site.  This offer is good until 5/31 - please mention this post on Active Rain to get the discount.

They are down - crashed servers and power supplies yesterday - doing disaster recovery.  But how about them getting black listed from organic results on Yahoo -- and falling off the charts onm Googel as well??  Framesets. framesets, frameset designs - thing of the past.

Hey Anna,

Great information and I totally agree, customized websites are the way to go these days!  With Goolge and Yahoo making their stand on linking issues, etc. the best thing to do is have your website created the way the search engines want it and not the way the template companies want it.

I will say this about Anna's company...she will get you on the search engine and keep you there as well as create a great website to represent your personality and your market area.

I'm going to bookmark this post.  I've been working on my site, a template site hosted by Homes.com, and am curious to see how far I can take it on my own.  When I'm done, I plan on handing it over to a professional to take over or to build a non-template site.  One thing I will say about Homes.com  though, a few weeks ago they lost a bunch of servers at the same time and my site went completely down.  I called on it and they were very forthright as to what had happened and told me that I didn't need to worry that everything that they did was backed up by duplicate backup systems that were off site.

I was back up within a couple of hours.  Do not all hosting company's have such redundant back up systems?

Gulp, no email? How could we possibly survive??? Well, you might not be as attached as I am to your email I must concur with Anna's thought provoking insights into the loss of possible leads. I don't know of many prospects that will patiently wait while the servers are restored.

I just can't imagine how the folks at AA are feeling right now and I'm sure they're doing everything they can to get things going but I do hope that this post will get you thinking about the drawbacks of a template site. Michael pointed out that frames are NOT search engine friendly and it's so important that we're friendly with the search engines in this day and age because if we're not...our competitors most often are.

I have recommended Anna to produce custom websites for a number of my clients and they have all been extremely happy with the results.

Cheers,
Pam Ivey

As a person with an AA site, I have been preparing for a year to move my site somewhere else.  We have been told for nearly a year that 4.0 was on the way, yet no 4.0.  Now yesterday, my site was down nearly a day and a half or longer (not sure when it went down), which is completely unacceptable to me.  My renewal is up in June or July, you can bet that I won't be continuing with AA.

Bad, bad news - and I know it could only get worse since the Comcast email blacklist debacle is the real reason they're down - they're moving everything to a new range of IPs to bypass the blacklisting.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about the email problem, I have a seperate email host.

Anna,

For current information about Advanced Access, we've just started "AAUG - Advanced Access Users Group"
which hopefully will bring you up to date on the company.

You're welcome to join if interested.
