Welcome back to our 5 part series on Home Staging Checklists. By now you should begin to see your home shaping up nicely. Most importantly, buyers will see your home as cared for and well maintained. This goes a long way to getting a better appraisal of your home and more buyer interest in making an offer.

Part 3 - Cleaning Checklist
Kitchen
- Microwave, inside and out
- Sinks and taps - stains removed
- Stove - burners, inside oven and storage drawer, outside, top, and knobs
- Hood Fan

- Refrigerator - inside and out including the freezer compartment
- Dishwasher - inside and out
- Flooring and baseboards
- Clean under appliances
- Cabinets - inside and outside, hardware, tops of cabinets
- Windows - casings, screens, sills and levers
- Dust or wash blinds, vacuum louvers, and wash or dry clean curtains

Living / Dining / Family Room

- Clean carpet if required

- Get rid of any musty odors.
Garage
- Clean and remove any oil spots from floor
- Shelving
- Clean windows and sills
- Tidy up boxes, lawn tools and equipment
Neutralizing Checklist
- Remove odors from smoking, cooking or pets
- Store pet food and equipment in a cupboard
- Pack away family photos and personal mementos
- Remove items of a religious nature and signs, posters, emblems, symbols, icons, or artwork that may be considered offensive
- Select warm neutral colors for walls and flooring
- Remove wallpaper that is outdated, personal or bold
- Remove magnets and papers off refrigerator
- Remove small appliances from kitchen counters
- Put away personal hygiene items
- If you have a basement, apply a fresh coat of grey paint to unfinished basement cement floor and a fresh coat of neutral paint to unfinished basement walls
Once you've finished cleaning and neutralizing your home you'll be well on your way to listing your home. But, we're not there yet - we still have a little more to get done.
