Its year round mild climate draws people to this area from all over the world. Hearst Castle, a world famous castle built by William Randolph Hearst and the Elephant Seals in San Simeon are also two major attractions to the area.

Friends of the Elephant Seals
Protecting the Northern Elephant Seal rookery at Piedras Blancas, on California highway 1 at the southern end of Big Sur on the California coast, twelve miles north of Cambria and four miles north of the entrance to the Hearst Castle. These incredible animals were hunted almost to extinction but now there are thousands of them who frequent this area year round.

Hearst Castle
A magnificent California state park 5 minutes North of San Simeon, this castle was built by William Hearst as a party spot with art, furniture, and fixtures imported from Europe. Fit for a King this is a grand attraction for tourists all over the world.
