Forest Heights Mill PondForest Heights Mill Pond

When the sun was out this morning, and not a cloud in the sky, I thought I'd scratch Forest Heights Mill Pond off my "to do" list.  Meaning, for the longest I've wanted to go up to Forest Heights and photograph the area and Mill Pond, a lovely central focal point of the Forest Heights Community.

At 10:00 a.m., when I planned Forest Heights Mill Pond into my day, the sky was clear, the sun was shining.  By 1:00 p.m., when I headed out, clouds were quickly moving overhead.  Mill Pond isn't captured with the blue sky background I envisioned.  Oh, well Forest Heights and Mill Pond will be there for another day.  Maybe next post, I'll focus on the lovely, GORGEOUS homes in Forest Heights around Mill Pond.

Forest Heights is an upscale neighborhood, nestled in the hills west of downtown Portland. For this reason, being only a 10 minute commute downtown, it is desireable. But, the Forest Heights neighborhood itself is more then the age-old adage of; location, location, location. Forest Heights has the areas most PREMIERE selection of newer homes (built 1990's to present) on those highly desireable larger lots.

Quite a few properties in Forest Heights encompass a terrific view . . . and what a VIEW! The western sunsets!  Absolutely spectacular.  The Coast Range, the range of mountains that divide the coast and the Metro Portland western regions can be seen.

The commute to the Silicone Forest of Hillsboro is great too.  For all the high-tech commuters, Forest Heights makes sense.

One draw to Forest Heights are the schools:

When I was out in Forest Heights today, there was a lot of little darlings playing at Mill Pond, I saw two lemon aid stands around the Forest Heights neighborhoods, and Moms walking their little, little darlings in strollers around Mill Pond.  Single folks, childless couples, retirees -- oh come ON -- Who doesn't like Forest Heights and the surrounding walking trails which lead to Mill Pond?!?

I love to show and sell in Forest Heights.  The homes with the views, and the homes on the lower level of the development with their easy access to the numerous walking trails and Mill Pond . . . the eclectic mix of detached properties, condo / town homes, provide a great mix and community.

Within the past few years, a centrally located shopping center was developed to give Forest Heights residents a place to walk to for their cup 'o joe and haircuts.  Forest Heights Village Center.  Stroll to Mill Pond, or walk to Starbucks -- whatever your pleasure, Forest Heights is one of the nicest communities, which continues to maintain livability and sense of neighborhood.

Forest Heights is about 700 ft above sea-level and there is a day, or two out of each year where ice and snow accumulates, yet down the hill will be snow free.  Not sure if Mill Pond freezes over . . . but if you decide to buy a home in Forest Heights, bring your sled and snow tires just in case . . . and ENJOY!

Forest Heights is managed by the Forest Heights HOA.  They maintain the walking trails, common areas and host a ton of community events.

Portland is a great place.  I relocated here in 1990 from So. California.  WHAT A GREAT MOVE!!

You're on the east coast . . . might be a long drive for a cup of coffee, but would love to visit with you both.  Just looked up your info and NH sounds lovely as well!

Hi Karen Anne -- When the area was first developed, in the 1990's and when I was just starting out in the biz, the area was missing something.  And that was mature trees.  They have grown in so nicely, but I remember when . . .
