Nyhart is a little town, that few people even know exist, in-fact the town sign has even gone missing. Nyhart, MO holds a special place in my heart. I'm not going to make a bunch of money selling real estate there, Nyhart only has about three houses.
Nyhart is located in the heart of Bates County Missouri , Nyhart is a forgotten little burg just West of Butler, MO that time forgot. But my family will never forget the little town of Nyhart, MO.
What makes Nyhart memorable is not it's small town charm, or the fact that I pass through it every time I go home, but the fact that that is where my mother died.
The old low water bridge at Nyhart, MO took the life of Celia VanGelder. Celia Louise VanGelder was 70 years old. She had been the loving mother of 5 children.
She had raised us all to love God, do what is right, and above all remember that the only thing we took to the grave was our name!
www.batesountyrealestate.com is one of the many sites I manage, and in all I do I try to remember her teachings. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, the only thing you take to your grave is your name, Worry is interest paid on trouble before it is due and some of her final words to me, "I am ready, all my children know the Lord and my work is done here" God promised me 70 years, and when they are done, I will be ready to meet Him.
Mom made it to 70, and because she believed the Bible promised her 70, that is what she received. I learned a lot from Mom, her faith, her courage, her life. Celia VanGelder sacrificed everything for her family and her beliefs.
Above all else, Celia VanGelder knew the Lord.
When she perished in the waters of the Marais des Cygnes River, she was confident in her future, she knew where she was going, she was at peace.
Celia Louise VanGelder was a Christian, and she is at home with Jesus today. I look forward to joining her someday.
I am also very happy that the bridge that bares her name will hopefully prevent anymore unfortunate disasters, because the low water crossing is a lot safer with a bridge now.
This is the old Nyhart low water crossing, Thank God no one will ever be forced to cross this again. I hope eventually we will eliminate all these dangerous low water crossings.
But for now I am thankful that Bates County, Mo has built a bridge over the Marais des Cygnes River to protect the people of Bates County, MO.
