Laurel Ridge Golf and Country Club, and their gated log home community, The Smoky Mountain Retreat (named “One of the Top Ten Best Log Home Communities in North America” in 2005 by Log Home Living Magazine), present a unique mountain lifestyle in the spectacular Great Smoky Mountains. Conveniently situated on the edge of the historic town of Waynesville, North Carolina, breathtaking views, altitudes between 3,000 and 4,500 feet, and wilderness surroundings enhance and surround the  unique homes in this 1,000 acre Haywood County community.

The Smoky Mountain Retreat, known for 30-mile long-range views and for preservation of  the natural beauty of the land, is an exquisite gated community enhanced by gently sloped and paved roads, featuring one and two-acre home sites. Also a part of The Smoky Mountain Retreat is The Village, consisting of log cottages, each situated on three-quarter acre homesites.

Laurel Ridge settingThe Smoky Mountain Retreat Vacation Rentals provide luxury, furnished log homes (with fireplaces!) complete with the conveniences of your own home, on a daily, weekly or monthly basis for you to experience and enjoy the majesty of the mountains and The Smoky Mountain Retreat while you are exploring homes in this beautiful community, as well as playing a few rounds of golf.

Laurel Ridge Golf and Country Club, just a few minutes away from The Smoky Mountain Retreat, was selected in 1992 as one of “America’s Best Courses,” featuring a Bob Cupp designed golf course with 18-holes of championship golf amidst beautiful mountain views. Originally opened in 1986, the Asheville Citizen-Times recently awarded Laurel Ridge Country Club with the “Most Challenging Course” title in their ‘Hole-in-One Contest.” Other Club amenities include clay tennis courts, a clubhouse, restaurant, pro-shop and heated swimming pool.

Susie, one of the things I love reading about the Waynesville area from your writings is the log home communities. That is only found in a few areas of the country and how rustic and relaxing country living. To look out on the golf course like that adds extra appeal.

Again, I have to ask if you took your own photos. These are breath-taking. You're a pro at having great photos in your posts!

Susie - sounds like an idyllic community. The Smoky Mountains are gorgerous and the view I remember are incredible. Love your photos.
