John Ringling came to Sarasota, FL in 1927. When he settled here, it was just a little beach town in a forgotten part of Florida. Now, the area brims with over 50,000 residents and draws crowed of tourists to the Sarasota public beaches.
As mention, John Ringling made this his home. So, in homage of that legacy, the Ringling Museum of Art is full of impressive art from the Greek and Roman times all the way up to the present. But, you should definitely make your way to the nearby Circus Museum and see what all the fuss over Ringling Brothers is about. Then, make your way to Ca d'Zan, the impressive home of the Ringling Brothers themselves.
Once you're tired of being inside, head to South Lido Beach for a swim or tan. Go on a kayak trip through mangroves. Or just relax in your Sarasota vacation rental near the beach.
