Hi guys, while I'm busy working in the background putting a whole bunch of new stuff together, I wanted to give you a sneak peek at a new Rain wallpaper that will be available soon.

One of my favorite things about the web is the ability it gives us to connect and share stuff with more people than we could ever reach in traditional ways such as newspaper ads, direct mail, etc...

Think about it... now we can easily get our message across to clients & potential clients and totally bypass traditional media.

Powerful marketing has gone from ultra expensive to practically free. Social media lets us connect with people in powerful, fun and interactive ways, leaving the middleman out of the equation. But that doesn't mean it's easy to get our message across.

Although I have a lot of projects in the works, in the coming weeks/months I want to take a closer look at how we can connect our online marketing efforts with the "real world", bounce some ideas around with you guys and create some fun, innovative ways to reach people. On that note, I gotta run, later...

How to Create the Right Avatar for You and Your Brand  by Mihaela Lica

In contrast to corporate or business avatars, personal ones are simple: crop a photograph you like and that’s it. It doesn’t matter whether people like it or not. That avatar represents who you are, and since you don’t care about branding that much you don’t need to worry about what’s in that little picture. read...

Hi Marti - Thanks for the link to my post. I'm really interested to see what Brian Clark has to say about Twitter, as well as the 35 Facebook apps.

Bo... thx to all the great contributors in this group, my job is pretty easy.

Carol... trust me, we all have tons of talent, it took me awhile to figure out what mine was. If we try enough things we eventually discover what we should be doing. Nite!

John... thx for the excellent contribution, so many people are following the 31 days series, it's fun to watch it as it goes along.

Marti,

Solid. Looked into one of your links and found under the Facebook tab, area that I'm getting deeper into, some very promising info. On the Habs, are they going sign Koivu for a few more years?

Hi Marti, LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Wow and thanks for including me in the list of reads. Wish I could us it as a half tone for an e-mail stationary but now that I am on the MAC, I  haven't figured out how to add it anyway, lol. Haven't had that lesson as yet, :)

Esko... re the Habs, they don't play as a team. They have some incredible talent but they don't fit well together, not sure what will happen next. I totally lost interest in them after the 2nd wicked loss in the series with Boston. Later...

William... great to see you posting here! Re the MAC, I wish I could give advice but I decided to put off my iMac purchase until I get a hands on view of Windows 7, from all the beta tests I'm seeing it looks very promising for a change.

Marti: re: minimalism helps to make the important stuff pop out.

Yes it does. Esthetically, by not being busy, it also has staying power. It lasts longer I think. Like transparency, it let's you participate by seeing something of 'you' in it. Instead of saying everything there is to say about it.

And re: Windows 7... I have a friend that works at Microsoft. His job right now is to break Windows 7. Over the years he's been critical of Windows (I know, seems ironic, he works there). But he told me that it was definitely the best build ever and he's quite excited about it. He hasn't broken it and only found minor bugs.

Sally... you know you're one of our sharpest cookies. Thx for another excellent post!

Laura... the WP thing is on the way, I'm working on he outline to be sure I cover all the basics without flooding the non-techies with info overload. I just want to show people the basics of getting it set up and online. Later L J

Rene... hi again, good point about staying power, clean/simple never goes out of style. Cool job your friend has, Windows is normally too easy to break. I think the technical/financial disaster known as Vista was the slap on the head Microsoft needed. ;-)

Joan... that is so sweet of you to say, thx so much. It's not necessary to confuse people with the tech stuff, a lot of the problem is geeks who feel a need to impress clients with jargon. Nite...
