Swine Flu Map ~ It's Spreading Fast

By now you are probably aware the WHO (World Health Organization) has raised the alert for this flu to Level 4.  There are 6 levels of alerting, raising the bar to Level 4 is not good news.

Click here if you want to read about the WHO and see and understand their pandemic alert chart

The same precautions you would take for any type of influenza apply here as well.  Most important is covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze combined with lots and lots of hand washing.  There is a Google map which is updated with each new case of Swine Flu.  Keep an eye on your area and if it appears and starts spreading please take it seriously.

Remember the Influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed between 40 and 50 million people.  It's estimated that 25 million were killed in the first 25 weeks.  Some estimates have the number of deaths as much as 100 million....so I suppose they don't really know, but it's a lot.  Not just the old and infirm, most victims were healthy young adults.  Please be careful and act responsibly....stay home if you're not feeling well.

Keep this map handy and refer to it often

Good morning Cynthia and Ann and Cristal and Toula,

Thank you for stopping in.  This virus is spreading and we do need to take preventive steps to stay well.

Don, thanks for posting. Until we know the extent of this virus, it is best to be cautious. Hopefully it will fade out like SARS did a few years back. I'm sure the media is enjoying having something major to report about on a daily basis---good for ratings.l

Dan and Amy,

You are very welcome.  You are so right we do need to continue to be cautious and we should stay that way even after this has blown past.

Shelia,

I had not heard about Bexar and the other county.  Is this just a preventivity measure or is there a lot of flu going around?  I hope that your children are ok.
