Super Old Oak Tree

This photo was taken at the Middleton Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. The plantation guides told us the tree is about 900 years old!! Some of the limbs are being held up and supported by cables!

Anne....such a beauty!  These old trees are always at risk when the hurricanes go roaring through.  I'm happy to hear this one is being lovingly cared for.

Wow...it's amazing to think a tree is this old! I live in New England and I LOVE trees. The fall especially is so beautiful to see the bright colors all around. It doesn't last long however, unfortunately.

900 years old? I don't think I knew trees could be that old.  That would be before Europeans came to the US.

Hey Connie: I didn't think they could either.

Hi Robert: Yeah, I have a thing for trees too--most of my photography in my home is of trees...and this picture is actually enlarged and hanging above my bed!

Hey Steve: I love visiting the plantations they are just too neat.

Hi Gail: They are working hard to keep this tree alive for sure.

Hey Carol: It's a beautiful tree! God created a wonderful world for us to live in.

Hey Fernando: You're welcome!

Hi Toula: Yep it sure is!

Hey Patricia: I love watching the changing of the leaves too--the colors are beautiful!

Hi Maureen: Well, that's what the tour guides told us--it's really old!!

Hey Mary: Yeah it's crazy to think a tree could live that long and thrive!

Hi Maria: I didn't know it either.

Anne - what a great photo!  I'm actually very drawn to pictures of oak trees - there's something so strong and amazing about them - I actually have 3 pictures that I have in my hallway of trees that are very similar - a reminder to me that I too am strong and a survivor of many things.  Amazing this tree is still standing after all those years! Thanks for sharing! ~Anne Marie
