Proof that Swine Flu started in England in December 1976!

As Realtors, we need to be on the bleeding edge to understand new technologies and changes in our environment.  One supposidly new change is the re-emergence of Swine Flu.

I knew I had heard of this years ago, so I went to  google and found the history for you.

It appears that this was only one of many works which were actually a collaboration created by several cult style members of a group co founded by Roger Waters and Syd Barrett in England in 1965.    According to Wikipedia,  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Waters, "Barrett's deteriorating mental health led to increasingly erratic behaviour, rendering him unable to continue in his capacity" and "Waters attempted to coerce his friend into psychiatric treatment".  Waters himself had disturbing thoughts brought on due to his fathers death in Anzio in 1944 during a World War II battle.

In one video documentary I watched, Roger Waters admitted to the camera man that their works were "rather drug orientated".  This interview itself was a bit odd, in that it was held at a rather erie setting at the remnants of an old amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy that was obliterated by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius.  Some of their writings that were performed in this "cult ritual" at this setting included:

  • Careful with that Axe, Eugene;
  • A Saucerful of Secrets;
  • One of these days;
  • Set the Controls for the heart of the sun;

Admittingly, these creators of "Swine Flu", were some intriguing minds indeed!

Maybe it was at the Regent Street Polytechnic School of Architecture were Waters met fellow members Nick Mason and Richard Wright that they came up with their original plans for Swine Flu.

This photo claims to be the orginal "Swine Flu" before it was released in public:

Guess this was a little too deep for a Friday.  Just wanted to start your May off with a twist.  Maybe I am already too twisted.

It's just the flu!  Now that we are not supposed to call it "swine flu", I like to refer to our little bug as "The Virus formerly known as Swine"...

Love the response Lisa!  Much better name than . . .  influenza A(H1N1)!

People can't handle acronyms to well anymore.  For example, do you know what the PCMCIA stands for on some laptops (it is the large metalic card used for modems, etc.)?  It stands for People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Acronyms.

For example, did you know that...

There are only 10 types of people,
Those that understand binary numbers,
and those that don't!

It's strange not to see a catchy name for it like "El NINO"

I guess "El Gripe del Chancho" doesn't quite roll off the lips as easily

Not easy at all for me!  I had to defer to Google to understand the post.  In the pre-google era, I would have come across so ignorant.
