One year and learning

Real Estate Agent with Exit Realty Unlimited
I have been a realtor for a little over a year and that first year was really tough. It really sounds easier than it is and some individuals make it look that way. I have struggled and I feel like I am getting better at scheduling my time, although sometimes that is still hard. Recently, I attended a Mike Ferry seminar with some others from my office. We decided we would try the group call situation because it sounds like it is what we needed. I know it was for me at least. The seminar, itself, seemed to help. I got a listing from following the instructions at the seminar. This is my first week doing the call, and I am working on the homework. I like the homework assignment idea, but it is not easy. Following the scripts and calling people are not easy. I think the more you do it, the easier it will get though. I want to be successful and I will keep blogging and letting you know how things are coming.

Hi Shari:

I know that first year of anything is hard. Marriage, being a Mom, becoming a Realtor, or as in my case, opening a brokerage. I know you have what it takes because you're still here! Did you sell a home your first year?

Yes. I am proud to say that I have sold a few my first year. I would like to make my goal for my current year 24. Not too unrealistic, I think.

Great attitude Shari. My first year I closed 24 transactions - didn't prepare me for the slow down.Hang in there, blog away and keep it up. Good Luck!

Gary, thats great figure for year one. I think I close 5-6 in my first six months and that was 10 years ago.

Shari, do the things you do not like to do first. Figure 2 per month, break the goals into several categories listings, sales over 500k, sell 4 condos, mail 50 former clients, website work, ect Then you will work on an array of issues that will make you more money in the end. keep blogging

Real Estate Website Optimization

You may want to consider becoming the first local relocation Realtor in your territory at this new site - once the page is generated (which happens automatically when you register) then you would be the first agent listed depending on your membership level - it is like having a whole other web-page out there that is optimizing and acting as a quality inbound link to your website - effectively increasing your web-presence and increasing your page ranking with search engines.

Congratulations on your first year!  It is tough, I have had a 3 deals close since I started in January 2006.  This Friday I will have a 4th deal close.  I hope you are picking up customers and activity to received 24 deals for the year.  At the rate things have been going for me, that would be an unrealistic number to achieve.

Welcome to AR, there's lots of great information and ideas here.  If you post and link you will be found by search engines too.

Hi Shari,

I know just how you felt-I am feeling that way right now.  I will not give up though.  I too have a schedule now that I follow.  I have found that it works a lot better when others keep you accountable.
