The Witte Museum is San Antonio's finest museum of South Texas history, culture, and natural science. The museum is now showcasing "Wild Wild West" and a true to life look at pioneer life in the American West and American Indians.
Real-life stories of Western heroes such as Wild Bill Hickok, Sitting Bull and others are presented; everything from how they became famous out West to finding second careers performing in Wild West shows and on Broadway. Visitors will learn about life on the frontier and how its figures, both famous and infamous, became legendary figures.
From the Witte's artifact collection as well as private collections, more than 100 objects are on view; from boots, spurs, belt buckles and saddles to American Indian artifacts, dresses, bonnets, historical photos and guns. The exhibit also includes rare posters from the Wild West and Broadway shows from the Witte's own Hertzberg Circus Collection. Admission is free with general admission for True Stories and the Arena
