On Saturday, May 9th....your letter carrier will be picking up the non-perishable food items you have left at your mailbox to be delivered to your local food bank/pantry. It is something we do every year and you should consider as well...even if it's a couple cans of soup..... If you can give more than that...here are some suggestions....

- Go to the Dollar Store...talk the manager....maybe they can help you with an extra donation with your purchase of items to be donated.
- Go to your local warehouse food store...Costco, Sam's Club...food by the case, large sizes of items can go a long way to feeding a large family
- Ask your local grocery store manager what specials he may have on non-perishable items that you wish to donate to the food drive
- Include Baby food, cereals and strained jars of food for tiny appetities.
- Copy a link to this blog or write your own and send it to your address book as a gentle reminder to shop now for the weekend.Involve your children...let them choose items, donate some of their allowance or savings to help a family not as fortunate...charity begins in your own community and it's never too early to learn.
We always include something fun....packages of Kool aid, popscicles that can be frozen, popcorn - just because you don't have a lot of money at the moment doesn't mean you can't have f
