The look and feel of a blog ... sometimes less is better.

Coweta County WildflowersThere is always a lot of talk among the more creative types here at ActiveRain about the need for more flexibility in the design and layout of blog posts.

Many feel confined by the limitations placed on html code and scripting. And it is indeed true that other platforms might be less stringent with code controls.

I am a very simple person. I like the clean layout of my ActiveRain customized environment. I can position my photos easily, and when all is said and done, I think that the overall look and feel of my posts is exactly what I want them to be.

As my posts are migrated to other sites such as Localism, my two outside blogs, and beyond with Google Feedburner, I rarely have compatibility issues. The blogs look great across the board.

I suppose that in my humble opinion, I think that the content should be presented with as few distractions as possible. The written words must stand on their own merit, and not be overshadowed by widgets and animations.

Perhaps a blog post should be like a staged room, just enough decorations to define the room without becoming overpowering or too busy.

Who knows, I may change my mind at some point, but for now, I like the look of my blog,

It says a lot about who I am!

Donald - I like your concept.  I am learning that.  I've wanted to write a mini-thesis to blog, but realistically nobody has the time to read all that stuff.  Share the essential idea and keep moving ... as hard as that is for a gabby type like me.  I like your comparison to staging the home - I will remember that.  Thanks for sharing.
