I sincerely believe that, as in any service driven business, our skills are based on a combination of knowledge, know-how and experience. I believe that the first two are learned and as such, one must refresh and build upon that knowledge base each year.
If you wish you to distinguish yourself by being professional and competent, you must continuously update your knowledge base and skill set and when necessary, take courses that will aid you in this essential endeavor. In doing this, you will be up to date with the laws and rules that govern your field of expertise and you will greatly prosper from that edge.
If you do not take the time to continuously self improve and learn you will easily be surpassed by your peers and even by your own customers! Indeed, customers are becoming more informed and educated and they demand and deserve the best possible service. In this respect, staying up to date is a sign of respect to your clients and colleagues.
Although additional training or "refresher" courses are not compulsory everywhere, it is our responsibility - like any self-employed person - to take the initiative to stay in the game. There are countless sources of information that are easily accessible with modern technology. Make it your duty to periodically research and absorb everything you can find that will help you in the future. It is also especially important to register for training when necessary.
I hope you choose to take the path to success and that you never forget that you are all excellent brokers and agents. You are honest and motivated. Never let anyone believe otherwise, especially you!!
