Last night I was fortunate enough to have been invited by a friend to a special screening of the new Star Trek movie. Although I have watched the old original episodes, some of the Next Generation episodes, and I think one of the movies, my interest stopped there.
However, I am a fan of a good movie, so when trailers for the new Star Trek movie began playing, I was looking forward to seeing it -because it looked like a good movie, and it had the creepy guy from Heroes playing Spock.
So as I sat in the the theater before the movie started, looking around at some of the movie goers around me -some in Star Trek tshirts and hats, and some in just odd combinations of clothing that I could not tell was on purpose relating to the movie or just in bad taste - I began to wonder if I was even going to like it. Is it going to be filled with references to stuff that I don't know, not being a Trekkie and all?
The theatre goes dark, the movie starts to play, and I am on the edge of my seat from the beginning! Through out the movie, I'm applauding, gasping, biting my nails, laughing, and 100% in to this flick.
Don't worry, I am not going to talk about the movie or story line, but I have to look down deep inside of myself and ask...."Am I a Trekkie?" Have I been in denial all this time?
Okay, I'm joining Net Flix, I have A LOT of catching up to do.
