So You Want to Get Paid for Blogging...

BLOGGING FOR BUCKS

Blogging for Bucks

"Make Tech Easier" is looking for three co-bloggers for their team.

Their website says "Make Tech Easier is a tech blog that covers tutorials for various operating system, cool software reviews and plenty of tips and tricks for the popular web apps. We are in the process of expansion and are looking for writers to help us turn this site into something bigger and better."

The first requirement:  Expertise and experience in Windows, Linux or Mac.   And, of course, there's a list of other qualifications and job requirements you'll find by clicking through to Write for Make Tech Easier.

What kind of pay can you expect for "professional" blogging?  That's what I wanted to know.  Darren Rowse (ProBlogger) says this position pays $15 per article plus incentive pay based on impressions for all the articles you post monthly.  Having no idea what kind of number that might be, I can't even guess at the final compensation.  I can tell you that it's more than we get paid for creating content for ActiveRain.

Or is it?  Hmmm....  Let me count the commissions earned on closed real estate transactions that originated on ActiveRain...  $5,000 + $10,000 + $8,000 + $12,000 +???  Gosh, I've lost count!

But this job isn't the only professional blogging opportunity available, if blogging for bucks seems like a good idea to you.  Just visit http://www.jobs.problogger.net today and you'll see more than twenty other ads for bloggers on a variety of different sites ranging from Mother of the Bride to Talk about Debt and many more.

Check it out.  If nothing else, you'll have a reply ready for the next person who tells you that blogging is a waste of time and energy.  You can tell them you're in training to become a professional blogger.

Melissa - I spotted this on Twitter, and I have to admit it was intriguing.

Jeff - Me either, but maybe it's something we can do in the old folks home when we're unable to list and sell.  LOL.

Mihaela - Keep an eye on the various job descriptions... maybe there will be one for new moms.

Katie - I miss you around here!  'Heading to Ocean Pines on Saturday - so near yet so far.

Margaret, I like your response to Jeff about doing it in the old folks home. I've needed a response for the stupid comments my co-workers make about my blogging!

Connie - Yep, I can just picture it... laptop on my lap, soap operas on tv, pecking out those blogs for bucks.

Cindy - These real estate blogs DO pay, don't they?!?

Mary - I knew they existed, but I didn't know how to find out about them.

Hi Margaret...There are some things I like to do just because I like to do them.  Blogging on Active Rain is one of those things.  So far I have not made one penny but many "friends" and I have hopefully learned plenty also.

We have enough trouble finding time to do our own Blogging let alone for someone else. It might be a good position for an agent that won't take the time to learn how to Blog.

I had read that post previously from ProBlogger.  Didnt realize there was such a large gap.  Either you are making next to nothing or making a ton of money.  No in-between.

I haven't kept up with my hours spent blogging on AR, but I have closed transactions from referrals that came as a result and that= blogging $$$.

Susie - I don't think anyone could get rich from "just" to l blogging, but who knows...

Kate - I'm fortunate to live in an area that's very transient and very wired, so my business has grown through blogging.  But I agree with you, it's just plain nice to have so many new friends and to learn so much in this environment.

Terry - Isn't that the truth!  Heck, I've completely abandoned the garden club's website...

John - I'll stick to making my money through real estate, thank you!  Even in a "tough" market, I'm doing okay.  Recently closed on a case with a $12,000 commission with a buyer who came through ActiveRain.

Renee - Who can count the hours?  LOL.

Margaret, I think I'm a realtor, not a writer. So, I'm a realtor that likes to write. To be a pro-blogger, I'm thinking you need to be a writer...a writer with a desire to write about everything that interest you. While changing careers might be a good idea, I'm not quite ready to do that. However, I am open to earning a bit more money...maybe I should check it out.

Marianne - LOL.  There are some GREAT writers on ActiveRain, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them might be good at this.

Margaret, that is a great post! And of course what is really great is the benefits you have seen as a result of your own pro blogging!

Did you do the 31 DTBB? I had a great time doing it, but am backed up on my assignments. :D

Andrea, I saw it... but the timing was off for me.  In the beginning I was trying to close on a very difficult and time-consuming case, and since then we've had the confusion of home improvement contractors taking over our house for a couple of weeks.  The good news is that it will still be available online, and I can look at it later.  Did you get something out of it?

Marzena - I wouldn't blog for someone else, but I would blog on another site as part of a team.  Heck, that's what we're dong here!

Debe - I picture myself as a little ol' lady residing at an Assisted Living faclity, blogging for bucks (to the amazement of all the other residents)...

Margaret - another great post and a subject I have discussed with my husband who still wonders why I blog.  He often says you don't make any money doing it - I disagree - I do maybe not for each post but in the long run I have gained exposure, recognition and new clients from my efforts.  I think if we see it like you that commissions have been paid and new clients have come our way - we are being paid. ~Anne Marie
