You want God to be on money? For some reason I dont think thats what Jesus would do.
I don't like the use of coins as more than just what we already have, pennies, dimes, etc... a dollar is a lot of currency if dropped somewhere or left in a pocket. But, honestly, I could careless if it says "In G-d we trust". It costs more to imprint that and we're trying to get out of debt, not get further into debt.
I'm disappointed that they have removed In God We Trust from our coins. It seems we are forgetting what our country was founded on.
Look at the edge of the coin. "In God we Trust" is printed around the circumference. This rumor has been flying around the internet since they released this coin ... Totally false!
Shane The title of this blog reads "Make your Choice"
Everyone is entitled to do that and or state their opinion in this blog, opinon- we are all intitled to.
James, I don't have a coin to see that but If I do I will check that out. thanks for bringing that to my attention.
This will likely be a strong push in the future. It is great to be an American where we all can have an opinion one way or another on anything.
Unfortunately I cannot take a clear photo of the coin in my hand. However, here is a link to the US Mint site that shows a rendering of what it looks like. There were some that were struck (in 2006?) that did not have the edge wording but it was a mistake in the minting process and was corrected.
The new coins they are going to mint this year will move the wording back to the face - probably because of posts just like this one.
I guess the Gold Eagle coin from 1933 had the wording on the edge and they thought they would bring back that design for the $1 coin but so many people freaked out they're dropping the idea.
Personally, Shane is right Jesus was outraged at the money changers in the temple and made a whip and knocked over tables. On the other hand I am outraged when those that would like to erode our foundation on God nibble away at the Godly foundation of this country. So, some things still need to get us upset and angry, just like Jesus shaking things up in the temple.
One day every knee shal bend and every head shall bow. If the government wants to save money then stop putting dead presidents heads on there and dates etc. Just put 25.
Whether a believer in Christ or not, wouldn't it be great if we practiced the ten commandments. Some one e-mail me and tell me how bad the world would be if we followed just those simple principles.
I have been reading every comment made and felt from the begining this could be a touchy subject, with that said, I want everyone to know that I respect everyone's opinion. Thank you all for your comments.
I am so surprised that they have left this off our coins.. will look at new ones and see.. thank you for sharing!
I dont like them even if it was on there. Now here is a better reason. Thanks for the "heads up".
