GONE FISHING...

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential

One of my favorite things about being a real estate agent is the flexibility of my work schedule...

Sometimes I am crazy busy.  Several appointments in a day.  Open houses.  Listing appointments.  These are the money days.  I try to make hay while the sun is shining...

Sometimes things are a little slower.  That's OK too...

I had a quiet real estate morning this morning.  I spent about two hours in my home office catching up, but then my schedule was clear.  I decided to spend it on one of my favorite activites...

FISHING.

I wouldn't be traveling far.  I actually walked from my home in Naperville to the Country Lakes golf course.  I had played there on Sunday, and had noticed a few lakes on the course that needed some closer inspection...

I started off doing more hiking than fishing.  The first couple lakes I tried were shallow, muddy, and filled with big carp.  Carp were not the target.  I was looking for largemouth bass this morning...

After traveling across the golf course and back, I decided to give the large lake near the course entrance a try...

                                 Lake at Country Lakes, Naperville

The lake is a fairly unspectacular body of water.  Sometimes those hold the best fish...

                                 A Naperville Bass

This bass was about 15" and starting to fatten up.  It was tricky taking fishing pictures alone.  You need something in the picture for perspective...

                                A Naperville Bass

I wonder why they are named largemouth bass...

As I fished my way around the lake, I ran into one other fisherman...

                            Fishing Bird

A great morning fishing.  I caught 4 bass.  Lost two.  The largest fish measured 17".  All in about an hour and a half a short walk from home.

Pretty cool.

Hi Ken... he looks just like Billy the Singing Bass that hangs on the wall.  Did any of your fish sing?

Hi Eric, Vern and Steve.  Thanks for reading.

He does look like Billy the Bass.

The biggest one might have sung, but he had my lure back down in his throat...:)

I sure wouldn't be eating these fish...

Thanks again guys.

You might have better luck fishing for the golf balls in the golf course lakes and then reselling the balls.  You could probably make a killin'.

Very productive fishing jaunt. It's easy to forget that our occasional off-time is a benefit of our business.

Hi Donna, Kim, and Cheryl.  Thanks so much for reading.

I saw a company "fishing" out golf balls earlier this year.:)

It was a productive day.  Fishing is peaceful.

Even when you don't catch...

Thanks again,

Ken

Dude...too cool.  We just built a new home and have a 1 acre pond.  We're stocking it with trout since there are 5 cold springs that flow into it.  I go to the Arctic every year with dad and the 3 bros.  Fishing is awesome and it's great to do with your kids.  I have 3 boys who will be doing it with me as well.  Call you tomorrow, say 8:30 or 9 am.

Hey Ken,

After being a good dad and giving your wife a break by taking your daughter to the park, I guess it's only fair to take some "me" time.  Of course you could have strapped baby in the snuggli and taken her too lol.

You have to teach those girls to fish.  Can't say it's my sport.  Worms, eeww.

Hi Ken, Sometimes it's good to get away from everything and do something for ourselves.  Nice fish story.

Hi Shirley, Jenny, and Larry.  Thanks for reading.

I can't wait to teach Erin to fish (if she wants to learn).

We talk about it all the time.

I am not a big worm fan either, so I use lures...

Thanks again guys,

Ken
