It's almost time for an old fashion flower to spring to life with their massive blooms and their heady fragrance, peonies create quite a sensation. Peonies won't give you instant gratification but in time they are worth the wait.
It is a 3 year process, nothing happens the first year, the second year you will see foliage growth, but the 3rd - LOOK OUT! You can expect beautiful blooms for 40 years - if cared for properly.

Plan where you want to plant your peony, once planted, peonies are difficult to move. The plants need sunshine for at least 6 hours a day, don't plant under a tree and dig the hole about 30" wide and 15" deep.
Buy bare-root stock and plant the upper most eye on the crown, no more then 2" below the soil and give bushes plenty of room to develop, cut stems to the ground when leaves turn yellow around mid-
September.
There are single and old fashion doubles and Japanes varieties of peonies. Peonies start blooming in May. Once giant peony blossom floating in a glass bowl of water will make an elegant.
This flower is just the beginning of a beautiful spring!
