Armstrong Springs White County Arkansas friendly get together. Keg party??

Picnic at Armstrong Springs

What is this?  A keg party?   Surely not but that little child is sitting on what looks like a keg!

This picture was shared by Ruby Nell Woodson Moye and shows some sort of gathering at Armstrong Springs, White County Arkansas.  Armstrong Springs was a community of some size with people coming for health purposes to stay at the hotel and bask in the healing spring water.

Ruby's dad is in the center with the hat.  I like the fun looking girl on the right who appears to be having some fun!  Probably circa 1917.

Ms Barbara,

I once served beer from a keg.

PS -- it did not touch my lips. Hope I am still in the will.

Barbara if that keg is empty that the girl is sitting on----that would explain a few things----like the girl on the right:)

Mrs Barbara,

Ignore Mr Charles, I think he is buttering you up, playing nice, because he wants put into the will. I judge him not worthy.

Jason, and you young people thought you invented the keg party!!!  HA!  You've been proven wrong by this picture.  If it's not a keg party, there's no one left to disprove it!!

Nutsy, did you ever hear the saying, "Skating on thin ice....?"  Well, ask your boss what it means.

Charles, what do you think that girl is doing anyhow?  The guy beside her looks a little bit like he's having fun!

Nutsy, as long as you're skating on thin ice, there may be a chance for someone to take your place in my heart and will.

Barbara she is clearly using her I-Phone to take a picture of the guy with the white shirt that is her boyfriend----the guy to her left would be her obviously protective and disapproving father.

Mrs Barbara, dear Godmother,

Do not fall for that silver tongued devil Mr Charles. He only wants to be in your will. He wants to leave poor Nutsy left out, standing on the street corner, dressed in a pizza outfit, asking passersby for spare change.

Poor Nutsy, in that outfit you'd never get any change.  All people would do is throw crumbs at you and laugh.  I really do like Mr. Charles (but not as much as I do you if you shape up) but it's about time he climbed out from under that house and took care of business.

I love old photos, I have several of ancestors.  It seems that each one tells some kind of story. Thanks for sharing.

Mrs Barbara,

Remind me again as to whether or not you approved of Nutsy's pineapplie outfit. I believe that, had Bob Dole had me and my family wearing these, he might have won the election. I so like my fruit suits.

Nutsy defiledNutsy, I got so mad at you I dug into the computer and tried to wipe you out.  I've got to take lessons from Mr Charles if you don't shape up.

This is what I think of your pineapple and fruit suits.

I have an appointment with my will attorney tomorrow!

Infuriated godmoma,

Ms. Barbara

Barbara - Don't you just love old pictures like that?  I will add two other posibilities to the contents of the keg - (1) It could contain gun powder:-)  OR (2) It could be empty, and they plan to fill it with healing waters to take home:-). . .If' it is actually #1, I hope the girl got the heck off the keg:-)

Myrl, that's a funny comment on the possible contents of the keg.  I like your second guess better but the girl on the left does look as if she has had a sip of some keg contents!

Barbara---nice job on Nutsy:)  Also, those kegs were used for everything in those days----remember there was no cardboard.  Could have even been a nail keg.

Charles, I guess I did chastise that little squirlt this time.  Silence all over the blogsite.......

I guess kegs were important but I still think this is a drinking one, even if just filled with water.

Mrs Barbara,

Please be frank with me. Is there no fruit that you like well enough, or perhaps a vegetable, that you would allow your Godson to wear it. It is very important to me that you be happy but I also love to dress as a fruit or a vegetable. I am looking for a compromise here and would be willing to buy other outfits if you might like one.
