Have you Felt Like a Ping Pong Ball Lately?

Do you ever feel like a big ping pong ball bounced from one wall to the next?

Do you feel like getting a better paddle to hit the ping pong ball?

Have you noticed recently that we as real estate agents work harder than we ever have before for less money?

However, as a real estate agent where the economy is definitely affecting our lives don't you think we are responsible for some of this mess?

I believe we are.  Yes maybe we do not have as much culpability as some banks, but I know that we as realtors have to say you know what I could have done better.  Isn't that what history is all about?  We definitely do not want to repeat this mess so let's finally learn from it.

How fortunate are we to be in an industry that we truly love?

Looking at the economic outlook many of us have thought of doing something else to support our family.  What would you do if you were not in real estate?  I have thought about it, and I look at the prospects of doing something else as ridiculous.  Just so I can have a stable income or salary.  I think we need to fight for what we love.  I believe we need to push harder and work harder than we ever have as long as we have one constant on our mind.  That is:

Our first priority must be to help the buyer or seller we are working for.  This has to be our constant and our #1 priority.  We must help our clients and have passion for the business we love.

I wish everyone well and much success.

Thanks for reminding us that we are professionals and we should act like it all the time.

David,

We as Realtors are responsible for this mess but you know; those that made the B-paper deals are dropping out like flies!

As long as we act with professionalism, and use due diligence, we should never have cause to blame ourselves for helping to cause these economic challenges.

Unfortunately, or fortunately I was not a REALTOR during the BOOM era,  I just get to help straighten it out!

Evelyn, that is pretty funny.  I heard Dave Liniger say LIFO (Last in First Out).  The last people during the boom to get into the real estate business were the first to get out.

Cheryl, I agree professionalism is the huge key.  I do not believe we need to blame ourselves, but we do have to take some responsibility so we can help solve the problem and learn not to repeat it.

Mike, you are absolutely right.  Those BC loans had a lot to do with the mess we are in.  The good thing about this is hopefully we learn from our mistakes.

Connie, thank you for you kind comments.
