My
wife’s cousin and his
wife came to town to
look for a condo here in Florida so they could escape the cold winter
weather
of New York.
So, once they got
down here we decided to go
out for dinner, and, of course, we talked about real estate in South
Florida. Just
from the conversation, I knew right away that the real estate agent
they were
working with just wasted two days of her time because my wife’s cousin
wasn’t
going to buy a thing and they still had one day to go.
The following day the
same agent would still be driving them from place
to
place for the third straight day and wasn’t going to get
a dime for his
time
and effort. In 10 minutes I knew that they were not going to buy a
condo… HOW?
I LISTENED!
When I was in the
trenches, I LISTENED to buyers VERY carefully! I
spent more
time with them in the office asking the right questions instead of
driving them
around.
And I was right,
when my wife talked to her
cousins before they were leaving town, they told her they have to
“think” about
it and that maybe they would just rent a place for the winter.
I knew the outcome without having to drive them around. I asked them
the
questions the agent SHOULD have asked them and I didn’t get the right
answers
from them, so I knew they weren’t ready to buy.
