'Tis the Season to BBQ

By

If your house is anything like mine, BBQ cooking is left to the "menfolk", namely, my husband.  There are certain rules and guidelines that govern men's cooking from women's cooking.  This is what consists of men's cooking (i.e., BBQ):

(1) The woman buys the food.

(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables and makes dessert.

(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

(4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three foot exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.

My husband's pride and joy...his BBQ!Here comes the important part:

(5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

Then...

(6) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

(7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. H e thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat.

Important again:

(8) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

And then...

(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces and brings them to the table.

(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:

(11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

(12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed ' her night off ', and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

Does any of this sound familiary to you?  I think I want to cook like a MAN!

Ah, the ladies speak.  Don't get me wrong, Liz.  I tend to do my cooking on the grill in the summertime as well.  When you are in the upper-90s and into the triple digits, it's just too darn hot to cook in the kitchen!

You are lucky, Anne Marie.  Although, my husband does do breakfast duty on the weekends.  But, typically, if he can't grill it, his "cooking" is ordering pizza to be delivered.  At least with pizza, I don't have to do much by way of clean up afterwards! :)

Oh, Lisa.  It's a great BBQ, isn't it.  It even has a griddle on one side.  I do like it.  My husband absolutely ADORES the thing!

Goog for you, Lynda.  I am only allowed around the grill in the summertime.  Hubby hates the heat from the oven as much as I do in hot weather.  :)

It's absolutely true, BLR Guy.  However, I'm not entirely sure that men are aware of the women's perspective.

They may have compared notes, Mary.  Although, it may just be that "Y" chromosome that makes it so.  :)

This is so funny, and (sadly) very true! Seems that women are always working behind the scenes, no matter what, and that whenever a guy takes action, he' spotlighted on center stage!
