Nope.
I don't know John Wall, but I know of his basketball skills and of the bright future he holds in his hands. I know he has found the basketball spotlight in Raleigh, NC, and in prep basketball and in the college hoops recruiting worlds. There is even speculation that he should jump directly to the NBA. He says he wants "the College Experience." I hope that includes a degree.
John Wall is 18, 6-4, about 175 pounds. Quite a few years ago, I was 18, actually nearly 6-5, and about 175 pounds. There the resemblence ends. No one ever categorized me as a "speed merchant." And the photos show John Wall as a kid who can elevate to the stars. I could bump around the rim a little, but somehow it seemed like he floats around, and that it was much more of an effort for me.
Since I didn't have that lethal ups and blinding speed, I work as a real estate broker. What the heck. It's easier on my knees. And recently, I have signed a new IDX solution provider, IDXBroker, which allows folks who visit my site to search the Triangle MLS for homes. The good folks at IDXBroker provide me with tracking of hits on my IDX page. (Brokers: Tell the good folks at IDXCO that I sent you. Referral spiff and all that, doncha know? ;) )
Well, all of a sudden, I was getting hits from a college sports forum, Baylor University's BaylorFans.com.
Then the Kansas University KUSports.com link started showing up, too.
So I clicked on the baylorfans.com link, and that is when I learned that John Wall had been arrested for breaking and entering. Dang.
See, the home is in Raleigh, is for sale, and is listed on the Triangle MLS through Weichert Realtors, Welcome Home. MLS#1660384. Someone got the address, and searched Google for it, and Google found it on my new IDX page. Google placed the IDX link to my page near the top of the first page of results.
A Baylor fan posted the link, under "Here is a picture of the house," and other fans started clicking.
And then the KU folks got started on their forum. A feller had to post interior photos of the house, and availed himself of my IDX page too.
Apparently, Baylor is a little more fervent about basketball then I realized. In about 36 hours, I have nearly 350 links from that posting on the baylorfans.com forum.
KU, on the other hand, has only about 22 links from the KU forum post.
Both forums harbor some snide remarks about an 18 year old kid who is under a microscope. Bad news travels far faster than good news, it seems.
I don't know John Wall. I hope this is a very small wrinkle in his path, and that he is able to focus on developing his awesome talent to its ultimate capacity. I sincerely wish him all possible success with his game.
And I sure got a kick out of getting so many hits from a site I never had heard of before.
