International real estate anyone ?

By
Real Estate Agent with Your Castle Real Estate

Have CIPS designation, want to put it to use, now may not be a good time.

US realty a better deal for most, so I want to attract people to Colorado (not a hard sell).

People also have asked me about buying overseas.

International Living magazine is a nice glossy mag that deals with the ex-pats and "margaritas in the evening on a white sand beach" crowd, but is does not provide much in the way of answers to hard questions such as will my ass(ets) be safe? How is the country in terms or liberty and freedom from tyrrany ? Currency stable ? Political situation ?

Anyone have any thoughts ?

Hello Harry,

By word of mouth basically.

Got a referral from an agent who saw I am CIPS,  for someone in Denver who has a condo in Spain. I contacted the TRC network, sent out an email, got no answer, went on line and found someone local, not CIPS to help her out. People have asked me about props in Costa Rica (buy), Belize (buy) and Indonesia (sell), nothing has happened.  In the case of the sell guy, the prop was of too low a value for him to mess with.  The Costa Rican adventure (this was through CIPS) led to my buyer going down there with his partners to at least scope out the place, but no sale.  The Belize buyer was unresponsive.  At least I made some contacts.  I find that people who ask about overseas stuff, generally know nothing about the place they want. I think it is easier to work with people who want to buy in the US, still the best place on earth to live.

I worked for Coldwell Banker for a few years, and have contacts in France.

What is your interest, and in what part of the country are you ?

Alfred
