New Trekkie Movie Is A Winner

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Star TrekI'm not usually very big into movie reviews because we all have our individual tastes but this past opening weekend I took in the new version of the Star Trek movie, named simply Star Trek and let me tell you the

New Trekkie Movie Is A Winner.

I am a very harsh critic on movies cause most of them are too long, have terrible plots, so so acting, start and stop, too many useless explosions, gratuitous violence, needless sexual innuendo etc. The new Star Trek had none of that with top marks in all those areas.

They take us back to the origin of James Tiberias Kirk as a baby and him growing up a daredevil and eventually going to Starfleet academy. All the characters are new ones for Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Scotty. As well as Sulu, Chekhov and Uhura. It is a very fresh approach to anyone (like me) who has seen ALL the Star Trek movies. The special effects in space and the black holes and firey drill that drills into planets are extraordinary.

The film moves along like a wild ride for two hours and six minutes and you just leave feeling now THAT was a good movie. Very entertaining, funny, touching, and the usual conquest of good vs. evil. The original Spock Leonard Nimoy is in it too. It's opening weekend proved it to be a blockbuster.

My review: five stars out of five stars. VERY GOOD.

Just think how tough it was to get this type of a review for a movie that has such an iconic status.  Amazing.  I'll have to see it.

I have never been a Star Trek fan.  I couldn't stand it as a child.  After reading your review, you have me wondering if I should go see it.  : ) Have a great week.

Gary ~ Glad to hear it.  I became a fan of the original Star Trek series from watching it with my Dad years ago. I never could get into any of the off-shoots though.  I also became a fan of the movies.  I am looking forward to seeing this prequel now too.

Gary, glad to hear this. I had thought long and hard and had decided not to go see it. Loved all the original Star Trek stuff and didn't want to ruin good memories!

My hubby and I made it a date night on Friday and saw it together.  Left the kid at home (He's really more of a Star Wars fan than a Star Trek one anyway).  I remember watching reruns of the TV show when I was a kid (I can happily say I was not even a glimmer of a twinkle in my parents eyes when it was originally on TV) and have seen all the Star Trek movies (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is probably my favorite).  Those 2 hours went by REALLY quickly.  It was fast-paced and fun.  When the lights went up, my husband looked around the theater and said, "Man, there's alot of old people here."  I told, "Yes, honey.  We fit right in." :)

Gary - Lots of people liked it, although I am not a Trekie and won't be seeing it. I did see the Beyonce movie this weekend and thought THAT was good (obsessed). I like thrillers and I am a Beyonce fan.

Gary, I heard this from someone who saw it the other day... From what I understand, it is not your typical James T Kirk type of movie...

Gary if I don't check it out,I'll definitely get it on DVD. I lost interest in Star Trek after the first season of the original one. But J.J Abrams seems to be getting good reviews on this one. Glad you liked it. Great post.
