Friday at the Codger Lodge—Yesterday we experienced a little Active Rain (and no Active Rain)!

It “Actively Rained” in the real St. Paul, and much of the state most of the day yesterday—and the weeds in my yard responded by growing at least an inch—the grass seemed unimpressed! The “no Active Rain” part of the post’s title refers to the fact that we didn’t get here on the ‘Rain at all yesterday. It was a sad day for me as I received word of the death of my 83-year-old cousin. He passed on Monday, and his family didn’t find my phone number until Wednesday—after the funeral. He and I were pretty close and I spent my day mourning his passing.

We have decided to spend our Memorial Day holiday at the Codger Lodge this year—at least our cyber-flat-selves, anyway. Look closely at today’s graphic, the whole gang is here, even a couple of unexpected, but certainly welcome guests—‘though Carl IS keeping a very close eye on his cooker—just to make sure nothing “disappears” before it’s time to eat. It appears that Joe Kewl is casting his eye on our Molly??? Hmmmm!

Cyber-Daisy sent word out to her cyber-dog buddies, Brutus & Cleo Tutas, and Pepper Cooper—and they have not arrived! She is wondering where they might be??? (To be continued…)

Daisy wondering where her cyber-buddies are.

Mmmm.  Trigg doesn't appear to have a porcelain, not china, but made in China, Codger Collectible Mugs filled to the brim with organically & shade-grown, fair-trade, French-Roast coffee.

Surely Trigg didn't join the friends at the Codger Cyber-Lodge to work, although he does have some document in hand.

I certainly hope that the Codgers have not gotten behind in the mortgage payments on the lodge.

Over the last few weeks when I find the time I am reading past cyber cafe' and back porch conversations. So that I can get up to date on all the happenings. my rescued petite pitt "Merlot" wanted to say hello to Daisy.

Jay, I am so sorry to hear about your cousin.  News like that does not come easy, and I'm sure you'll be thinking about him a lot over this Memorial Day weekend and beyond.  Remember the good times with him, maybe even tell us a story if you'd like.  I think better through my keyboard sometimes, maybe it will help you, too.

But your sad news is tempered with a little Codger fun, and I'm pleased to see you're having a get together for the holiday.  It helps to be with friends!

Can't wait to see what might be up with the doggies!  The kids are already at school so I'll have to bring them here when they get home.  (Part of my morning AR time was taken up with vacuuming my car, I'm taking out a young first time buyer this morning.)

Got to go write!  I'll check back later!  Hope you're feeling OK.

Lenn: Trigg Guudlender has the schedule for the weekend's activities in his hand.

Neal: At my age, this is no a new experience for me.

Christina: I'll see Daisy this afternoon and pass on the greeting.

Sarah: Most fitting weekend-my cousin was a decorated WWII veteran. He served with Patton as a tanker in France.

Jay, I extend sincere condolences on the loss of your cousin.  I do firmly believe that our dearly departeds go to a better place and those left behind suffer their loss.  I pray you will find comfort in cherished memories.

I'm glad to see you were feeling up to posting today.  It looks as if the weekend up north is going to be fun.  I see Billie's having fun, but Cyber Broker Maggie looks uptight in that get-up.  Doesn't that girl know how to let her hair down?  You did such a great job with the graphic.  I can almost smell the burgers grilling!

Ines, girl I don't know about that.  Aren't we supposed to be a fun-loving bunch?  The Poinciana crew looks cool as a cucumber, though!

I'm hungry, aren't those burgers done yet?  If Carl would quit stabbing Cyber Broker Bryant, maybe we could get some food around here!

To All: Thank you for your kind words of condolence. John was a humble man, when he spoke of the war—he never bragged—he spoke in sadness for his lost fellows. The war affected him deeply. After the war, he became a teacher of history at the high school level, and I’m told, a fine teacher. His Silver Star medal was displayed in a corner of a bookcase, in the corner of his office—not conspicuously, but there. Next to it was a photo of John and his crew next to their tank, and in gold lettering on a black background, the words “Never Forget.” I never will—I never will.

Maggie (#1): No one with a smile that broad is uptight. Besides, her clothing valet was too busy elsewhere to design her vacation clothing! LOL

Ines: Sketch a graphic for me to go by, or a photo (sense of humor is good too), and you too may join the fun!

Maggie (#2): Ya think those buckskins TLW’s wearing are cool? Of course, TLW is soooo cool herself, it wouldn’t matter. CBB’s outfit is custom-designed by CBB!

CBB: Your lucky Carl likes you!

Paula: His memory will be honored well past this Memorial Day.

Sarah: Be careful young lady—I may have to do YOUR caricature!

Ann: Thank you.

Jay, My most sincere condolences on the loss of your cousin, he sounded like a truly wonderful man.

I'm sorry I didn't make it by yesterday, was busy at work and my mom arrived in the afternoon from AZ to spend the weekend.

Looks like a grand time at the cyber lodge for sure! All the good guys are there!

Codgers, I just came back with Little One and we were admiring your work!  Little One was happy to see that Daisy invited her doggie friends!  She liked seeing Cyber Broker Maggie, too!  :o)  We're off to your next post, we've fallen behind.  (We adoopted a kitten this weekend and all we can do is play with him!)
