Points System Patches & Changes

By
Real Estate Technology with ActiveRain

After a few weeks of glitches in our points system, we have finally been able to repair most of the major glitches.  Points should now be working close to 100%.  There still is one minor issue that we are aware of and need your assistance in correcting.  It appears that if you go back and edit posts that have previously been published that the system is deducting points from your total.  We are working hard to correct this issue but need detailed examples to get this issue fully solved.  If you have an exact example please post in the comment section below in detail to assist our developers in correcting this issue.

The major loophole that was allowing some people to post more than 10 posts in a week and receive points for all posts has been closed.  It is now back to 10 posts per week, 10 comments per day with 200 points awarded for posts and an additional 25 points if you put it in a channel and 25 points per comment left.

One major change that has taken place is the schedule for posts. The posting week now starts at Monday at 12:00:00am and ends Sunday at 11:59:59pm.

If you are experiencing the glitch above please post in the comment section below.  Also, please do not flood this post with amount of points you have lost over the past few weeks.  Those comments will be deleted to keep this post as clean as possible for our developers to track the issue and resolve. If you did experience the loss of points, use the Contact ActiveRain at the bottom of this post.  Please be patient if you submit a ticket regarding lost points and condense your list to one ticket.  If multiple tickets are submitted it will slow down the response time for not only this issue but other crucial parts of the network.

Thanks to everyone for your patience during this time and continued great contributions to ActiveRain!

LOL...

This could go on forever. If I collect enough of them can I exchange them for ammo? :)

Blog Entry: First post I went back and was going to add the follow me on twitter logo and it took away 200 points and I had not checked until I had already edited 5 other post after this one which now just seem to have disappeared.

Earlier today I edited an older post to remove an extraneous paragraph. That cost me 48 points so there are still problems. Should I ask for all these points back, will you give them back when the problem is fixed, or are they simply gone forever?

OK, thank you.  Glad you clarified all of this for us.  I'm glad I didn't go back and edit too many times.  I'm sure that I went back and edited probably the last 6 blogs that I wrote at least once.

I have sent an email about my issue - but will post here too if it is helpful.  I edited many of my blogs to add Outside Blog which I just set up yesterday.  I seem to have lost over 1,750 point over the last hour of editing older posts.  Please let me know if you need additional information.

I've gone back to edit posts to make corrections and fix links that have changed.  The SNEAKER that is getting me is that the AR Blog editor itself is rearranging the code in a different way than it was when some of those older posts were published.  This can make post corrections a very onerous and unwelcome task.  John

It appears to me that we need to make sure we are using the spell checker before we post, or we will loose points.  I think I probably have lost posts because of adding a slide show in the HTML section but I always post a regular blog then go back in to add the slide.  I think I will not do this anymore...

Is it possible to lose points for updating my profile? It seems I had a little over 1,400 and now I have a little over a 1,000. I changed the title of the About Me section, added another testimonial and changed my Twitter link.

I'm still trying to figure this all out and so far I'm having fun.  I changed my profile today and saw my points increase.  Thanks for the explanation about what is going on here.

I fixed a link in my Dad's profile and saw his point total drop 400 points. That was a couple of weeks ago. He went from being second place and featured in his area to third place. We've worked him back up to second place and featured but I know even he was wondering where his points went :-)

Hi guys,

Just a note to let you know that I did not get my 100 points for logging in today.  I worked until late last night posting.  I don't know when the clock begins and stops on the logging in thing.  But maybe you can check it out for me.  Thanks.

Are you still checking these?  I posted on January 8 2010 and went back and edited very quickly.  My blog went out but it was not reported on my points at all.  Is this normal.  I'm fairly new.

Are there any points for when people comment on your blog.  I thought there were but none are showing up in my points.  Please help.  Thank you.  Margaret C.

Sorry I just tried to edit my comment above and failed miserably.  I just reread your response to comments and found out there are no points for comments on my blog.  Sorry for not reading more carefully the first time.  Margaret C.

PS Should I have been able to edit my comment?

Hi - I (finally) utilized the signature feature and went back and ediited many post today and last night to get rid of the double signature.  I am not quite half done, and have dropped a few thousand points.  Now, I don't care too much about the points, but I just search & found this post and since you asked for feedback, I thought I would let you know.  I do have a screen shot of what it was a few hours ago (it has gone down at least 2k, but it was even higher yesterday.

Hi Steve ~ I'm still getting notices of comments on this post so saw yours. The reason it happens is that AR changed the maximum number of points you get per post.  If the older posts you edited had enough comments to go over the new limit you lose those "extra" points when you edit the post. Bummer!

I just lost 59 points because I edited my profile. I hate that! I know it's silly, but I wish this glitch would be fixed. After two years, though, I don't think it will be. :-(
