CULLOWHEE – Western Carolina University’s Fine and Performing Arts Center will offer its second annual Sizzlin’ Summer Shorts Series with events throughout the summer. Next in the series on Saturday, June 16, will be comedian, celebrity impressionist and country music recording artist Johnny Counterfit. Counterfit has performed for several television and radio networks, as well as twice at the White House for former President Bill Clinton. On Saturday, July 7, a Broadway clown, mime and physical comedian will take the stage. Aver Eisenberg, or “Avner the Eccentric,” may be best known for his role as the title character in the hit motion picture “The Jewel of the Nile.” Concluding the summer series is a performance that is part of the 24th annual Folkmoot USA, North Carolina’s official international folk festival, on Tuesday, July 24, with performances of folk music and dance by six groups from around the world. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the main performance hall of the Fine and Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the symphony, Johnny Counterfit and Avner performances are $25 for adults ages 18 and older, $20 for senior citizens ages 60 and older and WCU faculty and staff, $15 for groups of 15 or more, and $5 for students ages 5 and older. Tickets for the Folkmoot USA event are $18 for adults, $15 for WCU faculty and staff, and $5 for students and children ages 12 and younger.
