Hello Friends, I've been on a little trip to the Western Slope of Colorado. I went with my Mom(79) to see her sister (84) - There was so many beautiful places between here and there - if we had stopped for every photo op -- well, we would still be on our way there!
About 100 miles west of Denver, we stopped at a rest stop. Snow was still on the ground! Seeing the flags blowing in the wind in the beautiful Colorado blue sky was spectacular. One mountain in this range is the Mountain of the Holy Cross with an elevation of 14,004.
As we dropped down near Glenwood Springs we saw rafters on the muddy Colorado River.
One of the best parts of the trip was spending time with my Mom and seeing my Auntie and cousins. On the trip I was reminded how beautiful Colorado is and how diverse in landscape.
From large cities, mountain towns, ski areas, coal mines, fruit farms, vineyards, cattle and sheep ranches --- the landscape is constantly changing. In Paonia it was near 80 degrees, how nice it is too be so warm after such a long cold winter!
The next best thing to "going" is always coming home... and on my way home I was so surprised and happy to see the lovely Livermore Valley is green -
camping is just around the corner in the high country, hiking on your favorite mountain trails, smelling the fresh pine, camp fires, barbeque! Spring has come to Colorado, and summer is just around the corner!
