Revealing New Statistics Show that Internet Savvy Buyers Make the Best Real Estate Clients

I recently got my hands on survey results from the California Association of REALTORS. It has some pretty revealing stats on Internet Real Estate Buyers vs Traditional Real Estate Buyers. I decided to pull out the highlights and compiled the info into a Squidoo Lens (link bait) :-)

As a web developer, I sometimes hear that Internet leads take a longer time to turn into sales. Now I have some great ammo to come back with! Plus, automation allows you to cultivate the lead without a ton of hand-holding.

I have a Real Estate Client in Sunnyvale (www.sunnyvalerealestate.com ) He told me yesterday that he was about to close his third sale that came directly from his new site (we only launched his site 2 months ago). We have really been working with him to put more of his marketing online instead of traditional methods. Now he is 100% convinced. He said clients who come to him from the web are so much easier to work with.

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Good post. Clients can view all the details on internet and may look at fewer homes.

So how does this hold true in your experience? What percentage of your leads come from the internet?

the Internet and it's capabilities are the best thing to happen to Real Estate !!!  I think the reason it is so much easier for buyers, is it gives them a chance to see everything that's available, and show up at a home with a higher level of interest then before when all they might have seen were a few still images. Now, with Internet video comming into play, the home buyer can step into a house and feel as if they were already there!!!

This brings me to my next point agents.....when showcasing a home online , make the presentation as brilliant as possible. If you can't wow the buyer online, why are they going to take the time to drive all the way to the house in the 1st place?

Great advice Eric! The sooner Real Estate agents embrace this, the better off they will be.  I see so many agents continuing to be the "gatekeeper" of the information. We are long past the days of the agent being the only one in town with their 3-Ring-Binder of homes in the MLS.

But this always beings me back to the same point. Why do Realtors continue to invest so much time and money trying to market offline to "Traditional Real Estate Buyers"?

they are living in a "yesterday" world, and will soon find out if they cannot keep up with the times, and technology, they too will go the way of the dinosaur....

I agree about the internet giving the buyers confidence. When they show up they are educated which gived them confidence and they have already developed that fuzzy warm feeling with us, which used to be a major obstacle to overcome.

I think what Brad has shown in the figure above is SUPER VALUABLE information!!!!

Take note all agents not investing in a good virtual tour. Internet buyers want more, and if you give it to them, it equals a shorter sales cycle.
