$8000 Tax Credit Fail

By
Real Estate Agent with Cummings & Co. Realtors

I've been wandering around AR & twitter reading so much about the HUD & NAR fail on the state of the $8000 tax credit being able to be used for a downpayment.

I am still in awe that it could have even been announced, nevermind POSTED on the HUD site without details/legalities/etc figured out.

HOW could this happen?

In this day & age, with the banks in crisis, buyers wary, sellers frustrated, how could HUD & NAR add to this stress?

We adhere to a code of ethics as REALTORS, and expect our trade association to represent us well. How is the consumer supposed to believe in US if we can't even believe in our OWN information?

I am disappointed, frustrated, irritated, and frankly, MAD.

Anyone else feeling the pain from this as well?

I agree with you.  This announcement should never have been made by HUD without ALL details "in hand".  They made themselves and us look like total fools as we scrambled to "get the word out" to prospective buyers.

Thanks Tom! It is such a shame. Hopefully they can actually work it out so a promise made to consumers is not retracted -- again!
