Gwinnett County police are still looking for two men suspected of kidnapping a woman in Lawrenceville and breaking into two homes. 2 Hispanic men burglarized the womans home. Gwinnett police said the men took the woman to a vacant house at 199 Lester Road. The woman was tied up when the 2 Realtors walked into the house. The man and woman Realtors began fighting the burglars and the men fled the scene. The woman and the Realtors had minor injuries, and were taken to a nearby hospital. The investigation is still ongoing.

Wow I had not heard this. Why aren't great stories like this on the news? These folks deserve kudos

A comment to Charlie who asked..."Why aren't great stories like this on the news?"

I've come to realize that the "News" would be best described as "Today's Bad News" instead of being just called the "News."  Bad news tends to grab attention.  Good news is...well, boring to the media.  They aren't really interested in sharing good news with us.  Maybe the public needs to DEMAND more "Good" news!

Kelly -  I just wrote a blog on this, as I was so shocked.  The agents were from my former Re/Max Executives office, and I understand they surprised the men as they returned from a successful closing on the home to remove the lockbox and check things for the new homeowners.  The men took their wallets and cellphones, but the Sellers had followed them to check the mailbox one last time, and were able to call for help.

Sharon, Thanks for the update. I figured it was Dianne Doughtery and her husband Mike. She is such a nice lady!

We have to remember to take care of ourselves as we care for our clients...follow the common sense precautions that help keep us safe.  One time when I was a new agent, I felt nervous about meeting a prospect at my mobile home listing.  I asked my husband to come with me.  The prospect turned out to be who and what he said he was--someone interested in possibily buying the house (he didn't), but having Frank come along was not a complete waste.  On the way home, he said he'd gained a whole new appreciation of my new job and the way I handled myself with the blowhard we met.

So glad these agents and the kidnap victim were all OK.

My husband often reminds me to be careful and bring someone with me to meetings. It's not until we see news like this that we are truly reminded that this can happen to anyone. With the economy being the way it is, it's no wonder that crime has risen.

Update: Mike is recovering from his head injuries. We send him our well wishes that he recovers completely.

Kelly, I didn't even hear about this! When I am showing a house to someone for the 1st time, my husband usually goes with me when he can.
