REbarCamp...

Ok, it really doesn't have anything to do with concrete (rebar).  It actually doesn't have anything to do with drinking, either (bar camp).  Instead, it is about peer-to-peer technology education.  Blogging, social networking, video, listing search technologies and better utilization of market data were some of the covered subjects.

Why does this matter to consumers? (I'm secretly glad you asked...)

According to the National Association of Realtors®, about 4% of Realtors® have a blog.  I know that most blogs are abandoned after a few posts...

According to my less than formal surveys, less than 10% use virtual tours.

I don't have it documented, but I think that property videos are only utilized by about 1% of real estate agents.

What does this all mean? (again, I'm happy to expound...)

We know from some of the in-depth study that the NAR has commissioned that buyers begin their search online.  We also know that when looking, they want to see LOTS of pictures, video, community information and resources.

At the same time, the VAST majority of real estate agents aren't utilizing those technologies.  They aren't using social networks to better expose their clients homes for sale.  They aren't using search engine optimization to better place information about their client's properties.

Sure, they have a website...  But nobody is finding them.

I'm a One Percenter.  I'll work hard to push past the other 99% to leverage the latest tools, techniques and technologies in order to better expose my clients' homes.

I also like to share those same techniques with my peers...  I'm not on the bleeding edge of every technology out there, but I am on the front side of many of them.

So, think for a minute...  There are 200,000,000 people on FaceBook.  Is your house being promoted there?

That would be why I drove up to Charlotte, NC with a handful of Atlanta real estate professionals to attend REbarCamp there.  That is also why I attended in REtechSouth here in Atlanta in March.  That is why I went to Inman Connect last year.

I am committed to using the most up to date technologies to better serve my clients and get their property sold.

Sandy - I am not in the top 1% of agents...  I do things that 99% of agents won't do.  I'll get to the top 1%... just need a minute.
