Remember Memorial Day!

Memorial Day and Labor Day are bookend holidays, marking the beginning and end of the summer holidays in the United States. Our three-day weekends but it's much more than that isn't it??
Traditional observance of Memorial day has diminished over the years. Many Americans nowadays have forgotten the meaning and traditions of Memorial Day. The Moment of Remembrance is a step in the right direction to returning the meaning back to the day. Set aside a moment on this day to remember, reflect and honor those who have given their all in service to their country. With that said; I want to take a moment, remember my family and friends that have served for our country and is still serving for our country. Thank you!

Remember the reason for Memorial Day!

My grandfather, Robert L. Bowman in WWII with Bill Mauldin.
Wish you were still with us, we love you! My grandfather died in the 80's from a heartattack. You should have heard all of his stories...we miss those.

A portrait of G.I. Joe is drawn on the Anzio beachhead (Italy) by artist Sgt. Bill Mauldin (left with the sketch pad) well-known and well-liked artist for "Stars and Stripes." The Model is Pvt. Robert L. Bowman (my grandfather G.I.Joe on the right in this photo) of Hogensville, Ga.

Now on a decorating note, we all know how fun it is do decorate and have cook outs with our friends and family. Memorial Day weekend is coming fast and I found some great photos to share with you. Hope this inspires you to plan something special this year for your family and friends. No Tablecloth? How about some old blue and white sheets or a red and white! They can work wonders as a table cloth. Don't forget to add American Flags for your table display. Of course touches of yellow will brighten any tablescape with red, white and blue. Most of all have fun with it, remember the reason and enjoy your day!

Classic! Nothing else to say about this one!

Love this idea...stacking white footed dishes one on top of the other and filling them red and blue fruit! Anyone hungry? Simple and yet stunning.

I absolutely love this bold idea!! An old red tricycle or how about a cute old red wagon on your buffet table with flags and more flags, white daisies in old glass jars, a clear glass vase filled with red white and blue poker chips. All American fun!!! LOVE IT!

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR TROOPS SERVING AND PROTECTING OUR NATION!
