The 1st Step in Setting up an Online Marketing System

In my last post, I told you that Advertising and Marketing were two different animals - they are.  In this post, I'll give you the first secret to capturing "traffic streams" online (video link at the end of this post) and how to begin setting up your own marketing system that runs on auto-pilot.

RESEARCH is the Fundamental Key

Okay - before you build anything, you need a good, solid foundation.  And when it come to the internet world, research is that foundation.

If you want to put up a new page on your site or a new blog, the purpose of the page or blog, the #1 purpose is to get RANKED on the first page of Google and other search engines.

Otherwise, what's the point?  If no one can find it or can see it, why bother?

So, in order to "tap into an existing traffic stream" - and by that I mean getting traffic that is already there - Getting search traffic that is already taking place.  See, if you just decide to put up a blog about "Purple floor coverings in Alamagorda Hills" - I can just about guarantee you that NO ONE is looking for that.

So the key is to find a search term that people are ALREADY searching on and then put up a blog or website for that.  Most agents do it backasswards - they put up a site or blog and then try to "force it" to get to the top of Google - my friend, that's the hard way.

This "keyword" or search term has to be something that 1) has existing traffic and 2) doesn't have too much competition.

Luckily, Google already has a cool little tool to help you determine search volume and competition!  If you want to see how many other pages, sites, or blogs are already "optimized" for a particular search term, just go to google and type in the search term in quotes - like this-  "purple floor coverings in alamagorda hills".

There is a number that is displayed just below the search bar and that number represents the number os pages, blogs and sites that are already optimized and indexed for that search term.  What YOU are looking for is a search term that has less than 2000 results or even better, less than 500 results.

Now that you have something that doesn't have much competition, check out how to use Google's tool in this video I just posted.  Here's the link:  Real Estate Keyword Research

This tool will SHOW YOU how much traffic per month you can expect to get!  Pretty cool, huh?  And it's free to use.

This is just one of the tools you can get for free in the 21st Century Agent's Toolkit.  Check it out and get your own set of tools now and start getting more traffic, more leads, and more money!

In my next post, I'll show you the second step to setting up your very own online Marketing system that will not only tap into existing traffic streams, but will capture leads from that traffic.

Until then - wishing you success,

Mike
