Turn Your Books Into Reference Books w/ Spiral Binding

By
Real Estate Agent

!Now Here This!

This post is not a commercial for any particular book.  Yes, I happen to work for Keller Williams Realty.  Yes, Gary Keller wrote the book I am using for an illustration. (I do however think Shift by Gary Keller is a great book that every Realtor should have in his/her briefcase)....but I digress.

This morning, I stopped by my local Office Max and they were able to cut off the original binding and insert a spiral binding.  Now you may be saying to yourself,

WHY WOULD I WANT TO DO THAT??

I can tell you why.....you want to hear it?  Here it Go.

1.  allows you to open the book and lay it flat on the table (see picture #2)

2.  Allows you to fold the book so that you are looking at one page (instead of 2 in a traditional book).  The mind is funny, when you are looking at one page instead of two.  You tend to concentrate on what's on that page rather than thinking about how much more reading you have to do before you can turn the page.

3.  With the book folded to show only one page, its easy to put the book down and come back to the exact page.

4.  The pages turn easier

4.  The spiral binding looks cool

5.  You can be one of the first people in your office to have this

6.  It's cheap.  This book cost me $3.56 (with 35% coupon in the back of the book). Regular price was less than $5.00

This is also great for cookbooks.  Any of you who are aspiring chefs know how much you appreciate a cookbook that lies flat on the counter.

Good Luck

Great tip, Leander. I have a few books that would be perfectly suited for this process. Thanks.

I wouldn't have guessed that there would be a sufficient margin to incorporate the spirals -  good job.

I love this idea for cookbooks - never thought about it for real estate.  Great post!

Leander - I have just about finished reading the shift book. Now I just need to get a spiral binding on it.

I've never heard of being able to do this.  That's a clever idea.  I have some books that I should probably do this with.  Thanks for sharing!

Hi Leander ~ This is a great idea for often used reference books.  I've got SEO books taking up half my bed - I'll try this for some of them. Thanks!

After having this binding on the book for 1 day, I can tell you that I have several other books that are getting the same treatment.  It's so convenient.  My cookbooks are next :)

Leander This process surely make it easier to use the book and I know you will be reading this one a lot.
