About.com has an interesting post on REO Agents Who Don't Return Phone Calls

I sent his excellent link by Elizabeth Weintraub to my buddy house hunting with me. I thought it was pretty cool. It may help a few people save getting their feelings hurt if a REO Agent doesn't call them back to answer their questions. It made me smile after my dumb dumb episode with my girlfriend in Central Islip (LOL). Enjoy!  ;-)

C How are you?

This article well help many to understand why calls to REO agents go unanswered.  I was fortunate to have this explained to me by REO agent.

Hi Carolyn... Elizabeth sure knows her stuff... very accurate info.  I'd hire her as an agent any day!

Good morning C,

I like the article that Elizabeth has written, I have fielded some of the very same questions and all it takes is for the agent to look at the mls and the majority of the information is there already.  One more thing, the added docs in some instances are there too and should be filled out when submitting the offer and made part of the contract.

Knowledgable lady, that Elizabeth! It's really no wonder she 'owns' the About.com guide for Home Buying and Selling!

C, I actually didn't know all that about REOs. But, but, but, I still think it's poor business practice to not return a phone call with a valid request for information. Yeah, some requests for information are bogus, but if I've got a contract on one of their listings, and I've got a question, the least they can do is to field it somehow. My client's don't know what's going on, and they should be kept informed.

so so true! I handle REO's (Not A lot) but I still think that service shouldn't suffer. They should have a buyer's agent on staff to field those calls and should return agent's calls that are legitimate.  I have found that emailing works pretty good and they don't mind returning an email that is very specific.

Jennifer, I am doing very well and can't believe how freaking busy I've become. I know that is supposed to be a good thing but I miss playtime. All work and little play makes Carol a very cranky bay-bay (LOL). :-)

Steve, if only I could get her in New York(LOL). I'd hire her too. In a heartbeat. ;-)

Don, my love, I owe you a phone call. I shall be playing phone tag with you soon. :-)

Lillie, you are very welcome. E is fabulous! :-D

Sarah Gray, I can't wait to get my hands on a hard cover copy of her new book. :-)

Marianne, I am with you. Very true. I am guilty of that once in a while as well. I try not to lose track of all of my messages but I have minions to distract me (LOL). My mini-Realtors in training sometimes push the button before I do (LMAO). Mama has been completely clueless to a number of messages. ;-)

Cristal, I second that motion. I run from them. Not exactly what one wants to hear from a Realtor, eh? (LOL) I'd rather deal with sellers still in control of their homes than not. Just a personal preference. :-)

Maybe this will finally get the banks to pay attention and hire people that actually want to help them sell the homes rather than sit back and wait for a check to arrive.

C, You're too funny. Are those mini-realtors bringing any any commissions???

Todd, it's very frustrating. I had a REO agent call my client back while we were touring homes together yet he refused to call me for three days. We're both seated in my car making appointments between a lull in assignments when her phone rings and the guy states he has an accepted offer on a property for $180K. Too bad.  We were working our figures at $230K. It was a $342K home foreclosed upon. Bummer. Some of them are so busy trying to keep both sides of the commission check they can't see the forest from the trees. My buyer was a pre-approved 500K shopper.  The rep should have called me back.

Marianne, my wee people are making quite a splash within the Realtor circles in Queens. Little dudes are going to make excellent demolition contractors (LOL). The boys really do love open houses. :-)

C, you take them with you to Open Houe Events? My grandkids at an Open House would drive me nuts.
