What happened at Notre Dame that you will not see on the news!

As I have said before a transformation is taking place and because of Obama's speech at the Commencement of Notre Dame an opportunity to speak out is here. I believe we are being called to speak out to let our churches and government know that we are awakened to the challenges ahead and are ready to question those in power.

ND Response Holds Rally for Thousands on Notre Dame Campus

Bishop D'Arcy Calls Seniors "Heroes" For Affirming University's Catholic Identity and Pro-Life Mission Notre Dame, IN - Approximately 3000 people gathered on the South Quad of the University of Notre Dame's campus this past Sunday for a Mass, rally, and prayer vigil hosted by the student coalition ND Response. These events, which were planned in reaction to Notre Dame's conferring of an honorary law degree to President Barack Obama at its Commencement Exercises, were intended to witness to the Catholic identity of the University and its foundationally pro-life mission.

With pro-life supporters and Notre Dame faithful traveling in from places as far away as Mexico, New York, California, and Florida to stand alongside the ND Response students on their graduation day, Sunday's events not only provided powerful witness to the sanctity of human life but also expressed constructive disappointment at the University of Notre Dame’s decision to honor President Barack Obama, who has publicly supported abortion and embryo-destructive stem cell research during his tenure in office.

Bishop John M. D'Arcy, who skipped the University's official graduation ceremony but attended the rally hosted by ND Response students, publicly thanked the coalition's students for their constructive and respectful witness and called them "heroes." Bishop D'Arcy's words at the rally were bolstered by speeches given by a number of Notre Dame alumni, faculty, and students who challenged Notre Dame to both maintain its Catholic character and live up to the pro-life teachings of the Church.

Following Sunday's rally, nearly 40 graduates who had decided to skip their commencement ceremony gathered in the University's Grotto for a prayer vigil and to listen to a meditation given by Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. These students were joined at this vigil by over 800 people, inluding their parents, siblings, and families. The text and video of the speeches and meditations given at Sunday's rally and prayer vigil will be available on the ND Response website, www.NDResponse.com

Here is someone who is not Catholic but who I think is awesome!!! Hey, can you imagine how scared the left in this country would be if Conservative Catholics got together with other people of faith! Remember America was founded on Judea/Christian principals. The Constitution gives us the right of religion not from religion. Heck I think we may just take our country back.

Alice, that was on the news.  MSNBC carried part of it.  So, you are not for the murder, as you call it of unborn children, and shall I assume that because you think Sarah Palin is awesome, you also don't mind the killing of innocent animals in the name of sport and recreation?

Alice - I'd be much more inclined to read your post if you used formatting.  I can barely tell when a sentence ends (or starts).

Alice - 3000 gathering on the south quad is nothing.  When the football team travels 30,000 travel with them.  No one likes abortion Alice not even us evil democrats.  We just recognize that republicans don't like feeding, housing or otherwise assisting those unwanted children after they are born.  You want to save them in the womb but kill them after birth for being a drag on society.  Rather ironic I must say.

Alice, for some reason when you try to listen to other u-tube clips you have put on this one comes on also. That's okay because it is an important subject but I think it is going to continue until you figure out why it is happening. I do have to say though that the pursuit of life is after all NUMBER ONE. I personally can't understand how anyone could think abortion was anything other than murder. I have a HUGE problem with Obama's stance on partial birth abortion and was quite unhappy about Notre Dame's decision.

Alice - thanks for posting this!  While you and I may not completely agree on this issue, I'm glad to see that these students put together this Mass, rally, prayer vigil, demonstration, and that so many others joined in - adding their presence in support of their stance.

I think it would be fantastic if Conservatives would band together with Liberals to first simplify and streamline the adoption process, and find ways to cut the costs of adoption so couples who want to adopt will have more money left over after the adoption to actually support the child(ren).

Then, once adoptions are a more viable and simple option, move on to changing the goal of abortion from aborting a life to aborting a pregnancy while sparing both the lives of the mothers and the babies... when at all possible.  (I know, this is something President Obama opposes, but I believe he's part of a fringe minority.)  This would go a long way toward accomplishing the end goal of the vast majority of both those who are pro-Life (concerned with saving the lives of the unborn) as well as those who are pro-Choice (concerned with saving women's right to choose with respect to their wombs.)
