Haunted Houses

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Ambassador Real Estate

Have you ever gone to show a house, and it just did not feel right? Perhaps you have had people call you after the closing to tell you of strange experiences that they have had in the home. I have ran into a situation that I am sure someone else out there has gone through. It began on Mother's Day, my clients fell in love with a beautiful home. They worked very hard to get this home, and are about to close...

However, something very strange has happened to my client and I am in the middle of some strange events! I am selling a home that has a history of hauntings. It is not a requirement on the sellers property disclosure to disclose ghosts, hauntings etc in the State of Nebraska. I advised my clients to seek legal counsel because this is beyond my expertise. It is unbelievable the tales and events that have supposeable taken place at this home. My buyers are frighten. They called many attorney's, and none of them say they can get out of the contract. I will not disclose the property, my buyers names due to agency, however, I am just wondering how many other agents that have ran into this and what they have advised there clients.

We are going to be doing additional research. So, I am in an area that is foreign to me. If you have any suggestions, stories or personal experiences, I would love to hear from you.

I'm with Richard! That is crazy!! What's going on in that house? I hope everything works out for you. In Louisiana we dont have to disclose that type of thing either.

Shelli,

You've got me on the edge of my seat! What's been happening in the house that makes the buyers think it's haunted? Have you experienced any supernatural goings-on there as well?

Spill it, girl!!

I love to hear about crazy haunted houses. please tell us more about the "strange happenings".

i feel bad for your clients, but it sounds like they just may have to lose their earnest money try to move on and hope for the best on the legal side of things.

A while back i was in a house during the summer and it's last occupent was obviously an older person, and it was sold by an estate. Again walking through the house it just had a really eary felling and wierd cold spots. This was summer the AC was off so i could not wait to get outta there.

I work with an agent that bought and has lived for some time in a stigmatized property. She used to have alot of wierd noises in her attic and occasionally music from an old record player. One of her kids had an imaginary freind with the same name as the former deceased owner. I would have been otta there.

they had a preist over to bless the house and have never heard anything since, and have actually found some old coins and stuff buried beneath a floor board in the attic.

i think i want to watch the Amittyville Horror tonight.

Shelli, my only experience was living in one of "those" homes. I had some interesting experiences, but was never frightened. The happenings were significant to cause one to notice, but never felt threatening. You'll have to give more details.

Wow Shelli, that's a deal that will haunt you for along time. I don't think there are many states if any that would require an agent to disclose anything of history of the house that was not pertinent to the structure, etc. Of course if the previous occupants couldn't clean up the chalk outlines on the floor and the stains, well that's a different story.

If it's your buyer and you know the bank that's working the loan, ask them about the situation. Right now banks are so skeptical about adverse conditions that could affect the buyer's ability to pay, being told that they don't want to live in the house could be the type of issue that would get the loan denied.

I offer this as an example

READ BEFORE LOOKING AT THE PHOTO...

The young man in this photo visited a historic site in Georgia called
Fort Mountain with his friends and he asked them to take his photo while
hiking. While his friend took the photo, he screamed and fainted. Then 2 days later he
died in the hospital. The doctors said he died from a heart attack.

When the photos where developed, in the last photo there was a woman
standing next to the young man, even though his friends said there was
no one with him when the photo was taken. Many people know of this rumor and the last photo is the result of the blessings of technology. People say its the ghost of Cherokee Chief Ross's wife Madam Firecrochet.

Still, the photo is very mysterious ..

Ok Everyone! I went to the ouse, and the buyers were asked to be alone with the spirits and the ghost hunters. They stayed most of the night. They said it went very well. They had spoken to the spirits and asked if there was anything they need to know about the home and if the demon spirit would harm then or anyone in there family. they go back on Saturday to get there answers. this is very interesting.
