Movie Review - Star Trek (2009)

My husband and I went last night to see it.  We loved it.  I thought all the actors did a really good job portraying the icons that went before them.  I loved the humor that was woven throughout.  The actor who played Kirk, had a very physical role...he took quite a beating in this movie!

I loved it too...and didn't expect to. My daughter is a hugh Star Trek fan and dragged me to it the very first day. I loved it so much I took my husband and son back later that day after school to see it again. I have never seen a movie twice in one day, and enjoyed it the second time too.

I saw the original series in its re-run phase as a child and was quite a fan....not a "trekkie" but a fan.. So I haven't ventured to see the new version.  It was in part because I didn't want to see the changeover in the actors.  Don't get me wrong -with  the original "Bones" and "Scotty" already gone, it was time for a new generation of actors to take the stage.  But the reviews I'm seeing and hearing from friends is encuraging me to stop procrastinating and GO!

Nice review, Matt. I haven't seen it yet, but my brother worked on the movie, so I've been hearing about it for the past 2 years. I'll be really interested to hear, too, any reviews about the new Transformers, ...am intrigued by all of the "religious" locations they used around the globe...You do a really nice job with a movie review! I enjoyed it.

I'm going to see it and not expecting to like it.  I love these reviews and am hoping I'm wrong with my pre-determination.

I'm going to go see it, but I would prefer not to see it alone. And a certain someone else in this household doesn't like Star Trek. :(

We went and saw it on the weekend....it was good!  Loved the humour in it, thought as Matt did that Spoke was excellent and really enjoyed Chekov!  The bonus "surprise" was great to see too!

I didn't expect to like it, but I LOVED it! I don't much like the actor playing Kirk- but then I never much liked William Shattner, either. Spock was always much more interesting.
I was really amazed at the way the actors picked up on verbal style and body language from the original series. There were a lot one wouldn't "get" unless they know the original series. I love that they gave Mr. Spock a relationship with Uhura- from the trailers, I thought it would be with Kirk.

This was fabulous - just saw it last night. Loved the casting and can't wait to see the next installment. Thanks for posting to REEL2REALTORS

Hey Matt, you're absolutely right Zachary Quinto nailed the Spock character, i was happy to see him in the role I also liked him in Heroes.

Matt, I definitely follow the heros series and now that you say Spock is played by Skylar I've got to make some time to go see it.
