Why We Should All Move To Germany....

Did you know that the average work week in Germany is only 26 hours?

Here in the US, the average work week is 34.6 hours (I would have thought it'd be higher). And, South Koreans work an average of 43.6 hours each week!

A few other odds and ends:

--28 percent of US workers are on the job at 7am

--15 percent of US workers are on the job at 7pm

--56 percent of Americans who fail to take all their vacation days

--4 in 10 employees do not take a lunch break (55 percent take a half hour or less)

--850,000 dollars is the amount that unscheduled sick and personal days cost a typical large US company each year

So, I guess we should move to Germany and also stop calling in sick!!

I have a daughter who lives in Germany with her husband and they definitely don't work 28.5 hours a week. I wonder if all the out of work workers are factored in or they count their 6 weeks of vacation.

I,as well, knew/know someone from Germany..and it isn't all peaches and cream...although they do get alot of vacation time,their tax rate is outrageous...kinda like ours is gonna be one day to pay off a certain $1 trillion stimulus package

Kristin, interesting topic for a blog. Now why didn't I think of that?

Kiwis (New Zealanders -- not the fruit) have a nice set-up, too. Christmas is summertime there, and the county essentially shuts down for about 3 weeks from just before Christmas until after the new year.
